I guess the committee out of respect is no longer assigning mid major conference champs with at least a 14 seed (usually 12 or 13).

MVC this year received a 15 seed for its tournament winner which was Bradley. Bradley wasn't a great team but was a 20-14 tourney champ out of the MVC.

Does this mean the MVC is dead? Or is it still heads and shoulders above the MAC, Horizon and Summit as most on here believe?

They’ve been replaced by the Ohio Valley.

And brought 10k fans to OVC tournament outnumbering the MVC final.

The MVC has definitely fallen apart as a league. Loyola Chicago had a nice run, but they only bring 3,000-4,000 people a game.

I think Wichita State leaving may get wondering eyes from the public schools. They said the MAC could have gotten 2 teams in if Buffalo have lost. MAC and Summit seems to be better than MVC.

Bradley had a NET of 174 on Saturday. That is essentially the same as Gardner-Webb a 16 seed. The Committee bumped them up a couple seeds to 61, so they escaped being a 16 seed.

LUC was the highest NET at 127. Had they won the conference tourney they'd have been a 14 seed.

It was just a down year. It happens.

MVC has had happened what we've sometimes seen.....

last year the first year out of the Wichita move- they had a good year, finished 9th in KP and 8th in RPI. But this year slumped to 17th in KP, and 14th in NET and RPI. It's happened with several leagues that lose teams. They start out ok, but then 1-3 years afterwords, they really slump... Saw it with MWC, seeing it with the A10, seeing it with Horizon.

The MVC has had the misfortune of having now in the last 6 years their 2 big fishes picked out.

Yes the champ is a play-in game but NDSU was also 15-15 during the year and struggled for a majority of the year. There were not nearly the best team in the league but played well in the SL tournament.

I believe Loyola has made the NCAAT twice since most NCAA teams were integrated in the 60's.

If the MVC did not have a conference tournament, and instead sent their regular season champ to the NCAAT, they likely would have moved all the way up to a #14 seed. Would that really matter much?

Down year. Next year will be better. Missouri State is loaded. Bradley and UNI will be good.

South Dakota State with the better over all record in SL could have been the Gonzaga in the WCC when they lost in the tournament. SDSU could have gotten a better higher seed than NDSU.

Wichita St. and Creighton were the most recent strong programs, but other programs have been at the top in prior years. Its not like the Big 10 losing an Ohio St. or Michigan. Its more like the Pac 12 losing a Washington or Oregon. The league has a lot of solid programs and different ones move to the top at different times.

Loyola, Bradley, Drake and Indiana St. have all been to the final 4. Missouri St. had some serious runs about 10 or so years back.

That program who could’ve taken over was stood up by the league.

2010 - NCAA win
2012 - Top 25, NCAA win
2015 - Top 25
2018 - NCAA
2019 - ?

If you’re in the MVC’s fragile position, rejecting a program like that is an all-time blunder. Especially when they would’ve led your league in attendance this season.
