Syracuse getting an 8 seed kinda sucks. Especially compared to Louisville. Cuse smacked us around in our head-to-head, and thus finished higher in conference than the Cards. .... No idea about their out-of-conference schedule, which may be weaker than ours -- but I think Cuse should have at least snagged a 7 seed.

And screw the Big Ten and their 8 bids.

I certainly hope the Cards take out two of those teams this coming weekend.

Freakin' Richard Pitino. NCAA plays games --- screw 'em.

I wish we could have gotten NCSU and Clemson in. It’s like if we give the ACC three one seeds, we have to limit them to seven teams.

Great to see 3 #1s

Felt NC State & Clemson got the shaft.

Not sure if accurate, but read that FSU is first ACC school with 27 wins or more not to be a 1 or 2 seed. I think they deserved 3 (see Purdue comparison). FSU going to 4 put them over 1,000 miles away to a 13 seeed with a home crowd instead of going to Jacksonville 200 miles away. Bizarre.

Excellent points! Some of the NCAA's decisions were... questionable.

If NC State wanted in all they had to do was beat Pastner on senior night at home.

RE: ACC gets Three #1 Seeds
NC State and Clemson paid the price for The ACC getting Three Number 1 seeds. The selection committee had to make a choice with our league this year. Honor its quality depth by giving it the 9 or 10 teams it deserved or assign the league three number ones and limit the bids the conference got to create an illusion that the league was top heavy. How St. John’s got in ahead of the Wolfpack and Tigers that ranked higher than the Johnnies in the NET rankings is anyone’s guess. I just told you mine.

Hot takes:

UNC getting a #1 over Michigan St. is very surprising.

FSU got absolutely robbed. They have to go to New England to play a 27 game winner in their own backyard. At least change the match-up if you’re going to send them that far.

I know NC State had more overall wins, but I think Clemson should be playing in the Dance. They met on a neutral floor which should have been treated as their play-in game.

I think the committee did a solid job this year by leaving out bums like Indiana and inviting deserving teams like Belmont.

Sometimes they massage the seeding so teams from the same conference don't meet in the 1st or 2nd rounds.

Yeah ... I hear ya .. but then look at Louisville's 4 team bracket.

Minnesota could wind up playing Michigan State in the second round.

So ... clearly, they apply that rule whenever it suits their agendas.

Cuse got screwed.
Florida State got jobbed.

I think Cincinnati and Auburn got jobbed as well. But that's their conferences fault for playing their tourney championship on Sunday.

It looks more like they're trying to make sure we don't end up with 4 ACC teams in the final four... I hope it happens anyway, just to spite them!

RE: ACC gets Three #1 Seeds
According to CBS Sports, not only did the ACC get three #1s, but it literally had the top 3 teams:

2019 NCAA Tournament bracket seed list
1 Duke (29-5)
2 Virginia (29-3)
3 North Carolina (27-6)
4 Gonzaga (30-3)
5 Tennessee (29-4)
6 Michigan State (28-6)
7 Kentucky (27-6)
8 Michigan (28-6)
9 Houston (31-3)
10 Texas Tech (26-6)
11 LSU (26-6)
12 Purdue (23-9)
13 Kansas (25-9)
14 Florida State (27-7)
15 Kansas State (25-8)
16 Virginia Tech (24-8)
17 Marquette (24-9)
18 Auburn (25-9)
19 Wisconsin (23-10)
20 Mississippi State (23-10)
21 Villanova (25-9)
22 Maryland (22-10)
23 Buffalo (31-3)
24 Iowa State (23-11)
25 Louisville (20-13)

Indeed, all 6 ACC teams were in the top 25!

RE: ACC gets Three #1 Seeds
FSU this year feels like GT the year they went to the title game under Hewitt. Right down to a lanky but serviceable foreign big man and 10 player rotation. GT also got sent as the #3 seed to play UNI in their own backyard. Having done that, GT then got to play a sneaky good underseeded Nevada in an arena full of Kansas fans. Having done that, GT then got to play Kansas in their backyard. Having done that, GT then got to play Oklahoma State in the Final Four in their backyard. The title game against UCONN was the first non-hostile court in the tournament for GT, but they were so loaded with talent that even that combined with Paul Hewitt's coaching couldn't stop them.

If I had been on the selection committee, I don't think I would have picked NC State or Clemson either. That's not to say I agree with who they did pick. I'd have rejected Florida and Ohio State for the same reasons I'd reject the Pack and the Tigers. But the committee isn't playing any of the games some fans accuse them of.

Local FSU media suggested the committee viewed the SEC as the better conf (compared to the ACC) in terms of depth (ie outside of the ACC's top 3). Do you folks agree? Has the SEC gained ground?
