Will UB take their basketball program elsewhere?
Having seen this before when Butler took their program to the A10 from the Horizon, if UB continues to dominate the MAC in basketball, will they look elsewhere to park their basketball program and still be part of the MAC, Football only?

I don't think Buffalo would try pull out basketball alone for a better conference and if they did I would hope that the MAC would kick them totally out of the conference ---no more UMASS/Temple deals. Also remember that football was not even on the radar screen at Gonzaga or Butler but is at Buffalo. Besides the odds are against Buffalo becoming a MAC BB dynasty---Kent had that nice run too a while back, but it faded after about the 3rd coaching turnover. But IF (and that is a big IF) Buffalo can maintain its current dominance in MBB I have no doubt that----coupled with their academics and (near?) NY flagship status they would be the ONE MAC program most likely to be chosen for an invitation in the UNLIKELY event of another round of conference realignments. At UT most of the fan desire for realignment is driven by football ---but from a conference perspective (i.e., a $$$$ perspective) MBB is considered equally, if not more important than FB. MBB and not FB is why Cincinnati was originally was invited into C-USA when it formed and later and why they were invited into the AAC when it formed. MBB and not FB was what got Louisville into the ACC. There are big bucks to be made in for the really good teams---$1.5 million/game in the NCAA for example.---and at a less investment costs than FB too

Buffalo is the state flagship University in New York.

1 word: No.

Football is what drives conference realignment. 5 good years of basketball is not going to shake things up.

That's probably true. It's why UConn hasn't left the AAC for the Big East bball league. Although getting rid of football all together would prompt a move to the Big East. THEN a spot would open for the AAC looking for 1 school with good mbb and football tradition. Liberty, BYU, Boise State, SDSU, maybe even Toledo or UB would be on that list.

Would UT have a football attendance increase with the likes of UC, UCF, Houston, Tulsa, Memphis, USF, ECU, SMU etc. coming into the Glass Bowl, I would think not.

Toledo wouldn’t have attendance increase with Houston, UCF, Cincy, USF and Memphis in the Glass Bowl? Assuming they’re played on Saturday then absolutely attendance would see a boost

Didn’t exactly see a huge crowd for Tulsa a few years back

It wasn’t a sell out but drew over 24,000. Several of these AAC programs are ranked nationally each season. Absolutely would we draw between 23-25,000 or even sell out if UCF, USF, Cincy, or Houston game to town

None of those names stir any particular interest for me. UCF was an awful. MAC team, we beat UC as often as they beat us, SMU is a shadow of what they were when they cheated, etc. I get excited about OU or Miami or BG but Memphis? Nah. But I go to almost every game anyway so I wouldn’t help attendance.

No more MACtion in AAC but some week nights in October. More ranked teams in the league means better opponents. Higher profile league means scheduling boost OOC. BGSUcks would be an OOC game every season.

don't see this likely to happen for buffalo or toledo. the mac has been very good for buffalo. they are in a good competitive place in the league in their main sports. stepping up a level might drive them back to mediocrity, almost certainly for football. buffalo tries to reload next year. it will be interesting to see how good they are without all those great seniors.
