In ODU history. This team is good and it beat Syracuse on the road. But, it has so much heart and I may not have rooted for another team more than this one. They fight, they grind....and better yet they seem loke frat individuals. They are great representatives of our University. They have 2 seniors that fought for 4 years of failure (3 for BJ). They habe a transfer senior that looked like he couldnt walk at the beginning.

This might be my favorite ODU team. They werent good enough to make it easy, but they willed their way to the title. I love each and every one of them.

Amen. I said two weeks ago that this team would win the tournament....They did. I said this team is special and that there is something special about this group...there is. Enjoy what you have seen. This is the highest character group you might see in this program. This is a group that is we before me. I am speechless after what I have witnessed this week, but I am not surprised. My source of that is VERY close to the program said "we are not that good, but we are so freaking tough!!!" What more can you ask for?

I've been following ODU since the late 60's and this team is as hard working as any that I can remember. So happy they were rewarded for all of their hard work with a trip to the NCAA's.

We could have beaten anyone tonight.

Congratulations to the Monarchs! They represented incredibly well. The leadership has been great this year and it paid off. Great job by JJ adjusting and X accepting the challenge in the tournament when it was clear BJ would not be able to lead us after teams adjusted to take him out of the game. The journey isn't over. Lets go make some noise in The Dance!

Great post 757. We are for sure a blue collar bunch who gets the job done!

Look...we are what we are. A physically and mentally tough team that goes through scoring and Free throw shooting lapses that have hurt us. Those ups and downs are tough on fans. We all love our Monarchs but we all can discuss without attacks the flaws and positive attributes of this team. I can see a pretty strong foundation with the younger players that could mean some sustained post season appearances. Go Monarchs ! Lets hope we get a good draw and win a game...or 2 or 3 or 4 !

Watched game late last night. Went to bed late with lots of highlights still fresh on mind. In retrospect, so many good things happened last night to win the game. Periods where many of our guys stepped up to do something big or little to contribute. It's all been covered, but just amazing everyone did their part to get over the hump.

Certainly ODU's best game of the three, but dang it is hard to win 3 games in a tourney. They found a way each time and now rewarded with a chance to play in the big one. Any one thing could have derailed the outcome, even that first night. But they found a way!

Wishing the team all the best over the next week and us fans more reasons to stay invested in ODU BB for at least another week.

Congratulations to Coach Jones, staff, and the kids for the hard work all season. Enjoy the benefits. Go Monarchs!

Agreed. I'm so happy for this Senior class who brought us back to this level.
In fairness, we've been so close before in recent years - but it's so hard to do - a shot or 2 here and there - need to appreciate it.
This provides a lifetime of memories for these kids as players and for us as fans.

There is no doubt they are a band of brothers. When brothers fight for each other, they’ll go “out on their feet” before they go down. This team has the heart of a lion. The heart of a Monarch! Special team, special season - banner year, one for the ages!

I just hope they don't feel that making the NCAAs is enough. I would love to see us with 2 wins and some momentum.
