This Thursday the Monarchs will play their travel team Charlotte, weather permitting of course. I know that the teams are already their, but ref still have to travel and show for a game to happen. Some refs travel the day of the game. Anyway this will be a key game for ODU to continue to stay in first place. The 49ers are 9-2 at home, including 5-1 in conference only play.

The 49ers schedule since ODU's 54-51 win on Jan 11th. For the season they are 17-7 (8-5) with an RPI of 67 and SOS of 126.

Charlotte's defense has been outstanding of late. Against Rice, they forced not 1, not 2, not 3..but 6 shot clock violations. Which is insane. Redshirted Senior Jade Phillips held all world Conference player Erica Ogwumike to just two field goals in 28 minutes. (She scored 14 points for the game, but 10 of those were off free throws)

Yes ODU is fantastic defensive team. Averaging 54.3 ppg given up, they rank 11th in the nation in defense. But here is something not a lot of people realize. Since Charlotte played ODU, their defense is just a hair better than ODU's against the same opponents. Charlotte points given up over 10 games, 556 ODU during that time span. 561. So if you like defense, you should enjoy this game

It's the chess game between Phillips and Wayne that will be fun to watch. The team's best defenders facing off against each other will be fun to watch. Charlotte has taken the third fewest three point attempts in the conference, based off conference only stats. They have been relying so much on defense, they are not a great offensive team. As long as they have Phillips though, they have a good chance.

After the game, I imagine the Monarchs are going to travel to Huntington, WV to take on Marshall and Charlotte will travel to Hattiesburg, MS to take on Southern Miss. The...additional games will add a lot of extra miles and be a big expense to the college teams. I personally don't like it, but I have no say in it.

This is likely to be the toughest game remaining on the schedule, save for the one at Rice. I was very, very impressed with Charlotte when they visited the Ted. ODU was lucky to come away with that win, but win they did. I was hoping this game would be on TV, but, alas, it is not on any of the usual spots. It is available on CUSA.TV and I will pay whatever it costs and try to suffer through that. I looked on ESPN+, and there were teams i’ve never heard of getting air time. Charlotte and Hampton Roads are among the biggest TV markets in their perspective states. Surely someone should recognize that this game could sell enough ads to pay for itself (maybe). Wish ODU would live stream all of its games.

Went early 16-4, then Charlotte went on a run 16-13 1st qtr.

I turned in on radio at 11-1 and it went downhill quick. I’m bad luck. I’m gonna turn it off for a while.

I’m trying to watch on this dang cuss-tv. I may have a heart attack before the end of the game. Geez.

ODU 31 to 29. They hit a 3 at the end of the 1st qtr and hit a 2 at the end of 2nd.

Our ladies getting killed by 49er offensive rebounding, 8-1. Charlotte has taken 9 more shots. Gotta clean this up.

31-29 at the half, ODU is up. Close game, and surprised we are in the lead considering Charlotte has a 21 to 15 rebound edge over ODU. But Taylor Edwards coming up big with 15 points. Hudson hasn't taken one shot attempt in 11 minutes of play, that is unusual for her. Worth noting, Victoria Morris with 3 fouls.

ODU dropped the game 59 to 63, too bad. Time to start another streak.

I swear anytime our basketball teams nowadays get any kind of national recognition they **** the bed.

Only saving grace is that Charlotte's RPI and SOS isn't that bad and it was on the road.

Also,I think what was mostly frustrating is no one else showed up offensively except Edwards. Wayne can't play a whole game and only score 3 points off 1-10 shooting and we win. Thank god Charlotte is that bad of a free throw shooting team or it would've been a blowout.

I can't remember where I heard it but they said when having a streak its inevitable that it'll come to an end. However I'd rather it happen in February than in March. So here's to another streak going to deep into march!

Good game. Charlotte shut down our 3 point shooters and Ajah Wayne. Hats off to Charlotte. Halfway through the 3rd period, Rise is behind by 8. We’ll keep an eye on that one. western Ky now is only 1 bame back.

That was a strange ending. Never seen a player overruled on number of fouls. I'm sure Charlotte's stat bench is embarrassed. Yeah for ODU's stat person realizing it was four fouls.

I know that I'm disappointed with losing, but ODU still finish the day in first place. As I type this, North Texas is up 48 to 38 over Rice. You don't want to depend on other teams to help you out...but I'll take it. (Rice's 6'9" center has not played in this game yet...don't think she will)
