After spring practice would be a coach's decision.

RE: spring football practice
Hopefully we'll see if Childers' issues were because of coaching and offensive scheme or lack of raw talent. His receivers didn't help him a lot during the year, but the offense, including Childers, played lights-out in the second half of the MACC.
That showed what they were capable of.

That was one of the best Huskie games ever, right by the 2011 MACC versus Ohio. The guys never gave up.

Does a depth chart usually get released for spring practices?

It's premature to have a 'depth chart' at that point but it's not uncommon for some coaches to give an overview/snapshot of the position battles so fans have an understanding of who may be the front-runner heading into the summer/fall.

There's no precedent with Coach Hammock, so unsure as to what to expect. I think SDSU may have had a video series covering the QB battle in camp but who knows if Coach E had anything to do with that or if he'd bring that to DeKalb.

Could be wrong, but I believe there are some open practices (unless Coach does not allow it) and if so, we will get an indication of what battles may be taking place.

RE: spring football practice
I wish Huskiewire would have a practice notes column. Basic information like who looked good/needs to step up. Too early to know the starters but just something to wet my whistle.

That first scrimmage will be interesting to see the sets / style they are running.

Hammock’s press conference was interesting. Everyone is competing for a job. Asked directly about qb and he was honest. He said there is no number 1 qb and that Childers could have played better. Developing everyone. I like to hear that.

Interesting....It's clear that even if there is a depth chart, it's written in pencil.

Question: “Coach, is it important to develope a #2 QB this spring?”

Hammock:” We still need to develope a #1 QB”
