And the salary needs to be in the 240k range. That's around what UNCG and UNCW are paying their coaches. ETSU is dishing out more than twice that. We can't compete with that, but we should at least try and compete with our system sister schools.

I get calling Matt, if you don’t try your never succeed, but, I just can’t imagine he wants anything to do with APP, my understanding he wasn’t treated very well by the former AD, and if he continues to have success at Murray St. he is going to get the call from a P5 sooner rather than later.

Yeh, Cobb truly screwed the pooch with the McMahon / Capel ordeal.

Even though he played and coached at App, it would be hard to deal with that big of a knife in the back.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Joyner - Pay him $210 and increase it by $25k a year under a 5 year contract.

Would you guys consider the ankle-biters coach, or is he too inconsistent?

Mike was contacted after the Capel was shown the door, but wanted nothing to do with the dumpster fire he left behind.

I think in the Sun Belt other than Hunter at GASt the range is probably 225-375K

His wife makes way more money than he does and he's got a great setup in Spartanburg. It's worth the call to ask him, but the answer is likely no thanks.

I like Steve Forbes, but he's way outta our price range.

Hopefully we go after someone with head coaching experience, even if it's at the DII level.

Indications are Gillin wants to name a new coach by April 1, so he's going to have to move quickly. Probably using Parker & Assoc again to vet the candidates.

I'm sure he had several candidates lined up once he saw the direction the season was going. It was pretty obvious by early february where the season was headed.

The guy at Lincoln Memorial has a heck of a record and can obviously coach, but he would need to keep Allison on to recruit D1 talent. Allison is the key to holding together what may be the best (on paper) recruiting class App has had in along time. He has locked up Charlotte for talent not going to the high majors. Brought in highly regarded player Donovan Gregory.

You never know. NC State, a first quartile team ranked in the top 30 in every metric used by the committee didn't get an at large bid to the tournament. Anything can happen!

For an athletic department that was almost vacuum silent during the biggest hire in recent school history, there's rumored leaks saying the bball coaching search has narrowed to 3 coaches

Coach of Presbyterian
Coach of Campbell
Coach of Gardner Webb

There were rumors during the football coaching search but they weren't accurate at all. It appears that Gillan plays these things close to the chest.
