Niang hit that 3 in the second quarter to put WKU up 10. The score the rest of the game: 44-27 Rice. That's just nails. Huge games from Ogwumike, Wiggins, and Smith, Langley again with the 3rd quarter magic. All in a game where it didn't quite seem like Mulkey had her A-game and Iademarco struggled. What a team.

Nice. We should start playing that at home games (assuming we don't already).

It really is amazing how deep this team is. More so than other strong WBSKB teams in the past...

I was wrong about part 2. We did make 2007 finals (losing to ECU). We have never won CUSA tournament (our two previous NCAA trips were as members of the WAC).

We've got a good one in Langley (for a change).

We're going to be at a crossroads here shortly. Who thinks we will we pony up the cash and make a legitimate run at keeping our coach?

A real nail biter.
But this team is cool under pressure.
And money down the stretch.
Incredibly important win.

It might get overshadowed, but Shani Rainey might've hit the biggest shot of the night for Rice. That 3 she hit at the buzzer when WKU went up 10 was absolutely massive.

Second game in a row Erica took over the game during the final 12 minutes-- 22 points, 8-8 from charity stripe, 12 boards, 4 assists.

We can ill-afford an invisible Nicole offensively for the entire game (though she did contribute with her 8 rebounds), and Mulkey disappearing the final 17 minutes of the game. Thankfully, Wiggins has really stepped up her game the past couple weeks, and is beginning to look for her shot.

And, yet, we still won with breathing room down the stretch. Was that the first time we were down by 10 since the UNC game?

“This past week, I’ve never seen a team prepare the way they’ve prepared,“ Langley said. “From extra shooting to getting in and watching film...and still preparing your mind as well as your body, I think they’re a really selfless group of people. Our first core value that we talk about is unity, and I think you really see that when our team is together off the floor as well as on the floor.”

Sounds like a really special group!

MTSU leads UAB by a point at the half. MTSU had a player in foul trouble (Johnson) and they are more athletic in my eyes. But UAB has some solid shooters so the 2nd half could go anyway really.

Probably. We were down 7 at UNT in both 2nd and 3rd quarters.

MTSU pulling away now - 15 point lead. They're playing well.

Rice vs MTSU tomorrow. We need to do a better job defending Hayes than UAB did. I think she scored 34 points?

I assume that MTSU will be at full throttle tomorrow, as this is their only shot at an NCAA bid, correct?

RE: Rice WBB vs. WKU - CUSA Semifinals
Yes, it's all or nothing for MTSU today (although they're likely getting a bid into a secondary tournament if they want one). UAB and possibly WKU will also probably get into the NIT or CIT.

As for Rice, outside of Charlie Clueless at ESPN, I think most pundits (and more importantly, the NCAA committee) will have them in, win or lose. The teams with losing conference records (Tennessee and Indiana) are probably praying for Rice and Drake wins today in the CUSA and MVC title games.

She scored 13 in the previous game vs. Rice.
