Will W&M look at Kotie Kimble as HC candidate?
Do you Tribe faithful think Huge will look at Kimble as a HC candidate? Curious as he is now an assistant at Charlotte and was looked at UNCA this past offseason.

I highly doubt it. I think Huge will go with a complete program outsider, "big name" hire.

I suppose anything is possible. I'd doubt it though. It doesn't seem logical to fire Shaver and then hire a new coach from Shaver's coaching tree.

Firing Shaver, passing over Holmes and hiring Kimble would make no sense.

Since I haven’t heard otherwise, I assume the assistants are still on the payroll. Have to assume A. Shaver will leave regardless. I doubt Holmes will be given a chance to interview for the head job. Poor Boatner probably thought he was moving into a stable situation when he came here last year.

Not a profession I would recommend to anyone.

Appreciate it, I'm obviously well removed from W&M MBB but thought it was worth checking. Good luck in the process!

I think a new HC should consider to retain Boatner. He is a W&M graduate and a young coach who can bridge the gap between a new regime and current players.

He's not a "big name" splash hire, but Wes Miller is doing some things with UNCG. I can't imagine it would be difficult to match/beat their HC pay.

Doesn't need to be a big name hire to make me happy. Just has to be the right hire

Actually, what I’m looking for is tangible envidence of an increased commitment to the program ($$$).

Given that, I can give them the benefit of the doubt on the coach selection; absent that, ...

Well then, if it’s not big name, and we want the right hire, I have a name-

Tony Shaver.

It's too late, but with what little I have gleaned from this thread, and not knowing what I don't know, perhaps the conversation should have been along the lines of "We're not adding the extension year to your contract this year and there is a lot riding on next year. We'll review this in early 2020 after the season is over and see where we are then.".

Huge said a lot of the right things in her letter. He needs to a great recruiter. He needs to be a motivator and respected leader of men. I prefer someone with head coaching experience. We can't afford the inevitable missteps of a 1st time HC. We basically need a Tony Shaver-like coach. I suppose you will say, whe not just keep Tony. Sometimes a fresh face and fresh energy can take a team over the hump. A lot of the head scratching play this year was more mental error related - free throws, execution, careless turnovers. That is something coaching certainly can address. I'm happy to see Coach Holmes sticking around. I doubt the new coach keeps him, but I'd like it if they did at least for the 1st season.
