Belmont is coming off of a decent NCAA showing for them. Unless that money is significantly less than WM's budget I wouldn't be so hasty to say they're a step below. Especially when you add in the recruiting restrictions. No matter how you look at it, that single factor is going to loom large over any coach's decision to take the WM job. Just makes for a tough environment given current expectations.

Nugh-Ugh, we have first dibs...

Lipscomb's coach played at Belmont and is already located there, so, he is their likely successor, if not one of Byrd's assistants. Their other prospects mentioned are not among our speculative circle.

Maybe we are waiting on Bruce Pearl. I am sure we can afford him.

Williford

or

Davis

If we are down to Williford and Davis, who do you favor? I think these two guys are our realistic option as I don't think JTIII is coming here.

Search for New MBB Coach
If those 3 options,
1. JTIII
2. Davis
3. Williford

I value head coaching experience

I also assume that Williford and Mike London know each other from London’s time at UVA and that could be a factor as well for both Williford and Huge in determining if Williford is a good fit at W&M.

Davis, if he brings Sestina with him and his 3* incoming PG 02-13-banana

If it was Davis, I'd have to believe it would have been announced by now, unless there was a state job posting requirement to be met.

That's not what I meant. Belmont is looking for a coach, and they share some similar characteristics with us that they could possibly be looking at some of the same candidates, especially a UVA assistant or something.

Apparently Kentucky has different hiring procedures at public universities than Virginia.

It's not a new hire. We extended Shaver many times with no delays.

You're right. Perhaps I should have said that Alabama, Cal, UNLV and Washington State don't appear to have such issues. Better?

My tongue was firmly in cheek. This board is nothing if not full of pedants, however.
