No question, for college basketball, it is all about making the big dance. BUT that cannot be accomplished without first winning the MAC tournament.

So currently, the most important thing is to win this tournament. I have not been following, nor living long enough (Outside of '95-96), to be able to see successful NIU men's basketball. Making the NCAA tournament would be amazing even if it meant being eliminated right away.

Those two options are one of the same. To me its all about selection Sunday and the announcing of the bracket, that is what gets me most excited. To see NIU's name called, that's the end game for me. The night NIU was announced for the Orange Bowl was the crest for me as well.

We'd certainly have game tape in that 2 seed--15 seed matchup against Michigan State!!!

Although it would be much cooler playing Duke or Kentucky.

Making the dance would be akin to the orange bowl in terms of getting the most casual fans excited and paying attention. I texted my group chat of NIU friends this morning letting them know we're 2 wins from the dance and all of them replied with excitement. Literally all that matters to 99.9% of college basketball viewers is the tournament. Getting in would be huge.

Making the tournament might also do some good for our basketball recruiting. MD--you're the basketball guru around here. Think it would help? Go Huskies!

I'm not the basketball guru by any means, I dont know much of anything about recruiting

In the rare event CMU or NIU won the tourney, is there a possibility it ends up being the play-in game. That would almost feel like not going to the tournament

What! I believe the play in game is for two conferences way below the MAC, Summit or other lowly conference.
