I think to win again we'll need Josh Parrish. His oft-injured ankle is what has caused him to missed the last few games. I asked one of the coaches Saturday whether he can play today and he said 'we'll see- we certainly hope he can'. They were hoping to have him practice earlier this week and then play tonight. He's our best perimeter defender, so we'll need him against the likes of Elmore and Burks.

3.5 hrs until tip

Marshall is averaging something like 85 points per game during their win streak. Defense is still atrocious, but they're getting away with it because of their offense. Let's hope for renewed energy on the defensive end and rims that favor the home state team.

I still remember from midseason the score out of Hattiesburg (hopefully I remember it exactly)... USM 101, Marshall 51.

Marshall was definitely in a tailspin midseason, including when we pipped them at Tudor

UAB/MTSU wrapped up before 8:30 so I’m guessing everything’s on schedule for tonight.

Parrish is starting so that's good news.

Awful, awful start. Not being able to get clean looks against this team is terrible. Also, every single rotation is late. Feels like here was no prep work done even though we know that isn't the case.

Defense is laughably bad. Been two to three steps late on every Marshall three. Also probably to the point where Peterson should be getting more minutes than Williams.

This is hard to watch. We know Marshall is going to shoot a ton of 3s. We know they have a poor defense so drive on them.

Ugly so far. A step slow on both ends of the court.

19-8 Marshall at the under-12. This looks like the Florida trip in terms of execution on both ends of the floor. We're making Marshall look like world beaters on defense.

Marshall is probably the one team in the conference you don’t want to play fast and throw up a bunch of 3s against.

Back to back shot clock violations for Rice. Wow.

Whichever coach did the scout for this game did a woeful job. How can we look so unprepared on both sides of the ball?

We look scared on offense. Like we didn’t expect them to play defense at all.

One of the reasons that Marshall is so bad on defense is that they aren't disciplined. They have no clue what to do when you're running an active offense, penetrating, screening, cutting, etc. But we don't have one guy who can win off the dribble, so we're not making them scramble.

It also doesn't matter when you trot out the defense that we have. Will always be my qualm with Pera. There are too many periods where it looks like we've never defended 5v5.
