Is anyone of influence now in contact with Populist of Missouri to make sure they are aware of desired amenities many have stated for the new Stadium and renovated Arena? Over the years, the list has grown to substantial length from many posters so priorities may have to be established, but Populist needs to know.

Nope. They’re gonna wing it. No “bells & whistles”

According to the rumors I heard, we can afford a few bells, but with the current construction budget, whistles are completely off the table. Those in power don't see the need for both bells and whistles as the loud bell clanging would just drown out the sound of the whistles.

Seems short-sighted if you ask me, but welcome to Bellmingham.

I dont know why I entertain BBFs posts at this point but if i remember correctly there was a survey sent out by UAB asking what kind of amenities we would like to see in the new stadium (or maybe it was the renovated BJCC?) Anyways, I'm sure that info was pushed up.

Seems like they aren't in any kind of hurry and the process is dragging out longer than it should be. Not starting construction until the fall would appear to put hosting to World Games' opening ceremony at the new stadium in jeopardy.

Anything will be a big upgrade over Legion Field, but I hope they don't cut too many corners. Fan amenities are the name of the game in this era of sports facilities.

Agreed. A bare bones stadium doesnt sound too appealing. Hopefully the restrooms, concessions and seats are decent.

I can't imagine why they are waiting till late summer or early fall. My fear is that this will drag out a lot longer than expected, and we will have an extra year (or two) at Legion Field by the time it's all said and done.

Maybe it will drag out enough so that our Blazers are the first event in the Stadium.

According to the article the design phase is moving at a "rapid pace." It sure doesnt seem that way. Out of curiosity, does anyone know of any recently built stadiums that were constructed with a similar budget? Just wondering what exactly it is we can expect.

How about because I ask questions that are important to be answered. Allusions to "a survey sent out by UAB" that no one knows the results to, and the blind faith that surely it "was pushed up" leaves UAB fans without firm answers of what amenities to expect (or when). To borrow from a current TV commercial, Is "OK" results good enough?

The fact that they haven't even surveyed the property yet is insane, not to mention that they're paying $18k for it

I just had only a boundary survey completed at a small school and it was 8k

Doesn’t matter what has been suggested it has to fit the budget. There will be cost estimates before it goes to bid.

Remember when I said don’t get in a hurry? I talked about long design times. Some of mine taking a year to design.

Trust the process. The construction is actually not that complicated. It’s drilled piers with steel columns and aluminum bleachers. Construction Infrastructure will more resemble UCF than LF. Get lF and how it’s made out of your heads.

I was looking at that. Cost of that stadium was like 220 mil and its smaller than our new one. What can we get for 175?

RE: BJCC stadium construction set to start in late summer or early fall, officials say
Construction methods are different. Don’t compare what it looks like or seats per say. Compare costs with how it’s built. Big difference between all concrete structure with pre cast sections and one that is build with steel columns, beams and aluminum bleachers with a brick facade. It’s also more of a cost per square foot than cost per seat as well.
Ours will be build like UCF but won’t look like it if that makes sense last I heard. That may have changed. I’m not in the loop anymore. It may be a combination of partially set in the ground and the rest steel and aluminum. I know Bhate did test borings so they know how deep to go before refusal.
