Toledo... NIT???? No way. Bowling Green and CM both got screwed.

Toledo was second in the conference in the regular season, which gave the Rockets the auto berth in the NIT since Buffalo made the tourney.

Is the CIT the tourney that you pay to play/pay to host home game? or is that CBI?

Not true, Toledo got an at large NIT berth. I believe the first ever for the MAC. Only conference champions who don't make the NCAA tourney get an auto bid to the NIT.

RE: MAC Tournament
pono, the MAC has actually received several at-large MAC bids over the years.

Bowling Green opted out of the post-season. I'm surprised Kent State didn't. The players, at least a majority of them, must want to keep playing.

The women do that but I’m not sure about the men. They will take a regular season champion who doesn’t make the NCAA. With 32 bids and 32 conferences no conference would have more than one team. I don’t think that’s the case.

RE: MAC Tournament
Wow, big hit for Akron. Daniel Utomi is transferring. He's probably their best player so with him and Ivey both out they'll losing 2 of their top 3 from a team that went 17-16. Here's some crazy numbers. As we all know Akron stupidly chucked bricks at an insane rate from deep this year. In conference play 46% of their FG attempts were three pointers which is a lot for a good three point shooting team. However, they only made 28.9% which is beyond horrible. What's even more alarming for Akron fans, Utomi led the team in 3 point attempts in MAC play at 7.2 per game but he was far and away their best shooter at 36.4%. Take him out and the rest of the team was 26.2% from three in MAC play.

Translation... Groce better pull a rabbit out of his hat during spring recruiting or they're in for another long year.

Walker needs about 39 points to set the school record. Will that give him an incentive to win this first game and earn a second game?

The idea that any player would ever need an extra "incentive" to perform well is disconcerting.

I really want us to win this tournament, but I want Trevor Huffman to keep the record. He was an all around player with all of the tools. He always guarded the opponents best player. He was good at making his team mates better. He was a leader.

RE: MAC Tournament
I think he needs 32 not 39 (assuming SportsReference's stats are accurate).

I don't think Walker passing Huffman would take anything away from Huffman. Huffman was one of if not the best players on what will likely always be the best team in Kent St history. And he was a lot more than a scorer. Ultimately his days as the leading scorer are probably numbered. There was a 35 second shot clock when he played and teams didn't shoot threes with the same volume as they do today. Walker's a great scorer who has definitely made the team better. If he passes Huffman he'll do it in significantly fewer games than Huffman (18 fewer games right now), but he'll have taken significantly more shots (195 more shots right now). To me which one ends up on top doesn't change how I view either.

Ditto ... Different eras, different times.

Huffman probably would have averaged 20 with this team as well. As noted, Huffman played his career with a much better cast. Walker a far better rebounder and no slouch as a defender. Huffman considerably better with assists.

As noted ... the record is going to go. Walker no slouch to have it.
