Agree, GFlash68. It would have been overly optimistic to expect that this bunch would have done much better. Senderoff did a sterling job getting as much out of this group as he did.

RE: MAC Quarterfinals - Kent State vs. Central Michigan
I really thought when we took the lead with about 11 minutes to go we would win it. However from that point on we decided to play some bad basketball. Avery couldn’t hit anything today and I don’t think he was taking bad shots. They just did not go in. The four/five games should be close but both of our teams decided to buck the trend.

Can Mitch graduate early? I know it’s not his fault but damn he’s infuriating
It's not his fault, but nobody would mistake it for being his fault if I was the coach. He wouldn't play.

I think our coach is getting pretty close to agreeing with you.

Intensity/Desire/Discipline all missing on the defensive side today.... Desire/Play Execution/Shot selection all intermittent on offense today.... expected to make it to Friday night at least.

I agree 100 percent. Frederick and Avery have been great representatives of KSU but IMO when you've been suspended twice in your senior year and I cant remember how many times in the 3 prior years you don't deserve to put that Kent jersey on again. Sorry jaylin...

Add Toledo with BGSU still pending.

RE: MAC Quarterfinals - Kent State vs. Central Michigan
Man, now that Toledo lost in the first round that close loss we had to BG a couple weeks ago is absolutely agonizing. Had we won that game we would've had the three seed. Sure with how we played today no guarantee we would've won, but we would've faced a weaker opponent than CMU and if we won we'd be in the semi-finals against the 7 seed. BG's couldn't ask for an easier path the finals... not that anyone in the MAC is easy this year.
I bet Sendy will be thinking about that ridiculous tech he got for taking his jacket off late in that BG game all summer...

I hope he spends more time thinking about how his team allowed a 22-2 run in the MAC TOURNAMENT!!!!!!
Think about that. Your telling me that there was nothing they could do or try to stop Central Michigan from going on a 22 -2 run.
Ah well, nice season. Earned a bye.

More important ... thinking about finding a pair of guards to replace the two seniors that are leaving. And perhaps a wing player to light a fire under Peterson/Williamson/Duling (if Duling moves back to that position).

Good news is that a new MVP emerged. For a while, I have thought that Phillip Wittington was our MVP. He got better progressively and I believe he had an even higher ceiling. I became more and more disenchanted with Walker even when he scored 25. He sure did not provide the right type of leadership as a senior. Pippen will be the major question for next year. We have some nice parts coming back but Sendy needs to find some more. He seems equal to that task.

I hear what everyone seems to say/feel about Walker. I guess I get it. But let's also be very clear. VERY CLEAR. Kent is not a 22-win team without him. Perhaps not even .500.
And if that was the case there would be a lot of complaining going on right now. ... Also give the kid a bit of credit. He could have followed the trend and transferred somewhere else. He didn't. Finally, while JHall certainly led Kent to the NCAA, Walker is the one (MAC MVP) who took them there.
He is who he is, for better or worse, and a lot of it was for the better.

I may not agree with your math, but I sure agree that I would rather have him than not. I do not understand the talk about him staying and not transferring. Sendy gave him latitude, maybe to a fault, that he probably would not have gotten elsewhere.

Ultra talented is awesome. Ultra talented can’t be ignored. But neither can leadership, handling adversity and TEAM play. Which one you value more is up to you. Either way...it’s all good (baby baby)

Agreed. Say what you want about Walker's attitude and suspensions. I don't know the details of his suspensions so I can't pass fair judgement. However, I do know he didn't show up in court records which can't be said for some players our fan base will probably remember more fondly than him.
As for his game, I really appreciate what he's given us for 4 years on the court. When we went small this year and 2 years ago he stepped up and became a big factor on the glass. We don't go to the NCAA tournament 2 years ago or win 22 games this year without that. Also, while his percentages haven't been great, this year any time the shot clock falls below 10 it seems like we flip it to him and ask him to bail us out. In an era where guys don't even attempt half court shot at the end of a quarter/half to protect their percentages, we have to appreciate him embracing the role of being the tough shot taker.

I don’t think what he did was terrible. However without the suspension there might very well have been a police report. Having said that I don’t think the suspension made much difference in how our season ended. We pretty much played the same way all year.

I can appreciate and thank Walker. However, if they don’t play any more he will be number two in scoring all -time and that is ok for me
