RE: CUSA Tournament Returning to Frisco in 2020 and 2021
Well, ya beat me by a minute. I'll just combine my post into this thread:

C-USA just announced that the tournaments will be staying in Frisco for 2020 & 2021, proving once again how short-sighted this joke of a conference can be.

http://conferenceusa.com/news/2019/3/11/general-star-renewal-release.aspx?fbclid=IwAR2SBumRg4SQnEMc6Ybap6W_T20ppTILzVZpulE7aPf67WwTXIiPjDh2QX8

Quote:"We are thrilled to return to Frisco," MacLeod said. “Last year’s event was very successful, and we made it a priority to build on that foundation...

For anyone who went, and there were damned few of us...calling last year's tournament successful only illustrates the low threshold this rag-tag group shoots for. Perhap it was "successful" in terms that her battery-powered kiddie jeep could make it from her house to the tournament in one charge!

Really wish they would go to a double bye, higher seed hosting set up. Maybe put the championship game in a destination city like Nashville or Houston.

What was attendance for the 2018 tournament? Was Judy thrilled over those numbers? I asked folks at conference office and never received a reply.

It's going to be poorly attended wherever it is unless the home team is playing more than likely.

This is what everybody is missing. The schools out west outside of UTEP don’t care about basketball as much. Having one of them host is beyond stupid. Put it somewhere that is somewhat central and hope for the best. This doesn’t make sense. And to continue on with it is a joke.

Perhaps CUSA is planning to make teams hate Frisco so much that they will accept the tournament moving (semi)permanently to a more centralized location like, uhhh...Birmingham.05-stirthepot05-stirthepot05-stirthepot05-stirthepot

I think we should all build little shrines in front of the curtains in our homes and use them as a conduit to beseech the Almighty Frisco Curtain for it’s devine favor.

Shrug. It means that there will be time for the Legacy Arena remodel before the next time it is set.

Having it out there is awful. I hope Judy gets to wear it like a black eye.

Apparently Birmingham isn’t higher on many people’s list. I can’t tell you how many people on the main board I saw praise Frisco and bash Birmingham.

Wonder if Birmingham will bid again in 2022 right after the Legacy Arena renovations are done? Legacy should be a first class facility then.

Maybe they should find a location where you can have 4 courts and play non stop where you can get a champion in one day.

RE: CUSA Tournament Returning to Frisco in 2020 and 2021
I actually think The Star makes a lot of sense (I live in Dallas, TX so will try to be unbiased). Here are the reasons why:

1) The league doesn't have a ton of expendable cash. Playing it just a few miles from league HQ makes sense
2) The Cowboys are offering the most attractive financial package of any of the other potential host cities
3) Birmingham didn't show up and support
4) Neither would any other institution city
5) The women's tournament doesn't generate revenue at all. Playing it under the same roof at the same time makes the most sense financially

I think this is likely to become the permanent home for the tournament. It's a 1.5 hour flight from Birmingham that you can get for cheap. Come out and support. See everyone at Cityworks Grille before the game tomorrow.

Hopefully by that time, we are on our way to a new conference home and won't have to deal with this conference and it's issues any longer.

That would be ideal. Hopefully we can pull it off.
