Just doing the math
Flanigan won 22 games in two seasons and got fired. Walker has 10 after one season. I assume that means he has to win at least 13 next season to keep from getting fired? Ugghhhh!

RE: Just doing the math
Not sure math works in this case. I would agree that Darrell is in trouble if he doesn't win, at least, 13 games next season. I think there are probably factors other than "math" which will determine if he is fired. Not making a judgment on this particular situation, but I don't think firing coaches, every 2 seasons, is good for a program.

While I am as frustrated as anyone, not sure it is fair judging Darrell on this injury plagued season. It's easy to forget, we played our last 2 games without 2 guys that started all season. Pippins was clearly still limited and I don't think Jaczec was full strength. I didn't expect miracles this season, but I did expect better than another last place finish. We need to see improvement next season.

RE: Just doing the math
Firing coaches after two seasons definitely is bad for the program. That is why we badly need DW to do well next season, or at least take a substantial step in the right direction.

The things that worries me is that to me the team had the same "out of control" feel that it had under Flanigan. The players running the show, playing like they wanted to play.

RE: Just doing the math
Seems to me that some coaches win by just "letting their guys play". I think typically they also have the better players. Like you said, we need for Darrell to do well (at least, better) next season. Starting again, with a new coach, would set the program back even further. So far, I think everyone feels good about Darrell's recruiting. If he can keep his guys here (along with the key holdovers) and add some pieces, I have to believe we'll be better next season.

Guy Lewis did it at Houston, but then he had Phi Slamma Jamma playing for him.
