but hey our ticket to the dance is punched,

let's enjoy this, party on coach!
He should be the highest paid G5 non AAC coach, period.

Now what will CC do is the question of the year.

Is his contract up for renewal? I honestly don’t know. The only reason I ask, is that I hear y’all will be losing a number of your current starters.
If he’s not up for renewal, might be interesting to see what he does next year before making a huge financial commitment.
What he does next year?

He is 171-94 at GSU with 6 twenty win season out of eight. He has won three regular season titles , three conference tournament titles and taken us to three NCAAs, all in six years. He has won with his guys, their guys and those guys. Time to pay him.

Yawn. We're going to bounce GAST out of the first round and wait for a challenging opponent

RE: 2019 Sun Belt Basketball Tournament
I always consider GSU a really dangerous team that can beat anyone.
I also always consider them an upset prone team as well.

GSU can shoot the lights out some days, and if you catch them on one of those days watch out.
At the same time, when they're off they can get beat by almost anyone.

That being said, we held them to 32% Saturday and still lost. Houston won't shoot 21% though like we did, I promise you that.

Hopefully the Panthers are having a good day from the perimeter vs. Cougar High.

RE: 2019 Sun Belt Basketball Tournament
Things I'm keeping my eyes on against UH.

1) Houston runs primarily lockdown man defense and probably won't double team Simonds ...who will finally get the 1v1 matchups that he prefers. (frustrating conference play for Simonds because SunBelt teams love to collapse 2-3 bodies on him). Temple and UCF's all-conference guards caused a lot of problems for UH. Perhaps we can expect something similar.
2) Houston gets into foul troubles quickly. Use our ballhandlers like Simonds and Williams to draw fouls.
3) Houston shoots way too many 3s for a very average shooting team (36% on 838 attempts!). Let's hope they fall in love with shooting 3s but have a cold day.
4) Houston is terrible at free throwing...so we have a chance to drag things out in a close, late game. Since late Feb, Panthers actually have been shooting FTs very well like they "flipped that switch."

Last year in the NCAA tourney, Panthers struggled against Cincinnati's big body guys who wore us down physically. UH doesn't seem to have the size of Cincinnati, which should help.

Man, sometimes you have to pause for a moment and appreciate CRH. At first, he accepted the gig at Georgia State with the expectation of competing in the CAA against other basketball schools like Drexel, Hofstra, George Mason, etc. When we switched to SBC for our football program (not being derogatory to our league in any way, but from the perspective of a basketball coach, SBC was a downgrade over CAA at the time), Hunter didn't whine or gripe. He didn't ask to leave. He just did the best job possible given the circumstances. Glad Ron Hunter stuck around all these years.

There have been so many teams switching places at the very top that it seems like they've slipped through the season pretty under the radar. On an absolute scale, I think they might be the best team we've faced in our three NCAAs since joining the Belt. I do hope we match up well, though.

Also, major props to RDC for heading over to the 14 seed's conference board to talk smack. Hilarious burn bro!

his last extension deal expires in 2020....the latest news is that Georgia State is trying to sign a long term deal done now....

I'd be really concerned if I was a Gast fan.

Ya'll are losing a LOT, and he pushed Simonds to go early as well. Now I don't know a lot about basketball and don't pay attention to it as much as others, but I don't think he'd be looking to make his job harder next year if he was about to sign an extension.

Hmmm.
