RE: Northeastern Game Thread
Toews has 1 assist. He needs 1 more to tie the CAA season record.
Edit: With 6:12 left in the half, Toews tied the record.
Edit: You were down 13 at 17-4, 20-7, and 22-9 but are within 29-23, which made Northeastern call timeout. Cacok has 14, Cylla has 6, and Fornes has 3. You haven't attempted a free throw.
Edit: You went down 13 again, and trail 39-28 at halftime. Toews had passes that led to misses by Cylla and Cacok, so he hasn't broken the assists record yet. At the end of the half, Toews got a rebound and hit the back rim from three-quarters of the way down the court. The statistics don't have a shot there, so maybe he didn't shoot in time. I wonder how far the longest made shot that was shot too late to count was.
Edit: With 18:08 left, your only point of the half was when Cacok made 1 of 2 free throws. Bolden Brace made threes 23 second apart to go up 47-29 and make you call timeout. He made all 3 threes and has 14. Cacok and Jordan Roland are tied for the scoring lead with 15.

He did it with 4:58 left. You're down 75-55.

RE: Northeastern Game Thread
They weren't passing and moving players and the ball tonight like yesterday. NE is very good on both ends but we still should have moved the ball better and should have defended better. Hawks were only 1-7 from 3 tonight. NE is the best team in the CAA and should win the title unless they blow it. They're well coached and have veterans.

Northeastern is the best and most balanced team in the CAA. Their length really bothered us. Couldn't get any open looks from the outside.

A part of me hopes Drexel upsets Charleston, leaving 4 northeastern schools and all but guaranteeing the lowest-attended CAA final in league history.

I just don't see how they lose to C of C or Drexel and then Hofstra/Delaware. They are really, really good. They will still probably get a bad seed like 14 or something like that, but can make it interesting for sure in the NCAA's. That's what you get when you have a coach for 13 years and can recruit top tier talent. They have it all with respect to coaching, shooting and smarts.

Good to see Cacok go out like the beast he is. Also good to see Toews hit the CAA record books as a freshman.
And hoping it all will come together next year.

RE: Northeastern Game Thread
Toews's 253 assists are the sixth most a freshman, and the most by a freshman not in a top conference. The only freshen with more assists played for Duke, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, UCLA, and Texas. After UCLA's Lonzo Ball two seasons ago and Oklahoma's Trae Young last season, three of the top six assist totals be freshmen were in the last three seasons. I'm looking at Page 20 of the NCAA's Record Book, and Toews should be in the freshmen leaders section for next season.
FYI here are your five appearances in the Record Book:
John Goldsberry: Made 8 of 8 threes on March 21, 2003, which is tied for the sixth most made threes without a miss
David Robinson: 14 blocked shots is tied for the second most done for Navy against you on January 4, 1986
Vladimir Kuljanin: .632 career field goal percentage ranks 26th
Sixth fewest combined points in a game since 1986: A 35-33 loss to George Mason on March 4, 2001
.544 field goal percentage in 1976-1977 ranks 28th

Goldsberry’s record of 8 for 8 from deep is also an NCAA tournament record. Only one to shoot that many in one game and stay perfect if I recall correctly.

RE: Northeastern Game Thread
C of C is killing Drexel. The Cougars have defended well and Drexel looked bad on offense. It's a lot for a freshman to deal with. Riller was the difference in the first half on both ends. That NE vs C of C game should be very exciting if C of C keeps playing this well defensively. There's a big difference between Drexel and NE however with respect to offensive prowess. Riller is the key IMHO for C of C in that tilt.
