MyBB MBB vs Charlotte
It's a Rice game, it needs a thread.

Xu gets to start. Pulled shortly thereafter, of course, but classy.

Trailing 33-30 at halftime. It's a meaningless game, but that's still not a good look.

We are trying to drive on almost every possession...not sure why unless it is what we want to work on before our first tournament opponent which should be Marshall. Very strange and has led to some really poor defense as well.

As did Dylan Jones.

Let's hope we got this one out of our system. 75 to Charlotte translates to roughly 125 for Marshall.

Agreed.....nothing to gain in this game but poor performance overall. We accomplished zero to prepare for the tournament

Rice basketball teams (men, at least) have stumbled badly on senior night before.

RE: MBB vs Charlotte
Give Charlotte (and Davis) credit. They played hard from start to finish. Rice didn't hit its shots. It's a meaningless game, but we do need to play a lot better next week. Supposedly, Parrish is going to try to play (which will help, we need his defense). It depends on how his ankle does in practice this week.

Not a good day for Rice athletics. A shame because last weekend was so good.

Rice could not find separation during the game. Charlotte did a good job on the perimeter, forcing Rice to go inside most of the evening. QMB is going to be a real force in CUSA but he and the Owls were not consistent with their interior offense or defense tonight.

I really enjoyed watching this team grow this season and I am hoping for the best during the tournament.

Spot on analysis.

Unimpressive last regular season game, but Rice beat both Marshall (1st round opponent) and Southwrn Miss (2nd round opponent of Rice beats Marshall) during the regular season. Fingers crossed that Rice can put together at least 2 good games to start the CUSA tournament and make a little noise!

RE: MBB vs Charlotte
As I said last night, getting Parrish back is big (and that's not a sure thing). It helps our defense so much, and it also gives the other guards a bit fresher legs down the stretch (our defense in the final 5 minutes wasn't nearly as good as it was earlier in the game).

It was a weird game. Charlotte banked in not one but two 3-pointers in the first half. Meanwhile on some of our few open 3-point looks late in the game, we bricked them. Oh well, it was one of those nights. You could tell Charlotte's two seniors wanted to go out on a winning note, and I think we wanted to get one clunker out of our system before the tournament (maybe - check back on that latter statement in 4 or 5 days).

I'll credit Charlotte for playing really tenacious defense against us last night, but our defense was a poor as I've seen all season, as was our rebounding. Put bluntly, we were badly outhustled at both ends of the court.
