Really cool halftime show happening right now on ESPN plus.

A Native American tribe is performing songs and dance. Awesome to see.

RE: WBB @ CMU Game Thread
Rockets came out with a terrible Q1, not able to hit any shots at all and CMU tore up the Rockets D. 26-9 CMU after 1.

Completely different Rockets team in Q2, as some shots started to fall, and the D really shut down Frost and Hudson. Cut the lead down to 5 at one point, and 6 at the half. Strangely, St-Fort was the offensive spark early in the 2nd, as she scored 6.

RE: WBB @ CMU Game Thread
Rockets getting killed on the boards, and CMU getting to the line too often. Still, if they made all the open jumpers and the couple missed layups, Rockets could easily be in the lead, which wouldn't have seemed possible if you watched the 1st quarter.

I agree. Nice that they kept the feed on to show that.

Well this one got ugly fast.

Cullop needs to bring in an elite scorer to fix this crap. No excuse not to be a top 4 seed in this league year in and year out.

Uh boy...sounds like the 3rd prd mirrored the first. Chimps now leading by 25, 57-32. Outscored the Rockets 24-5. Rockets have had 11 turnovers.

Worst quarter of the season by far. No one made a play on either end of the court. Only 1 basket and that was a kinda awkward flip over the shoulder by Beacham.

They only have 1 day to get ready for BG or Ball St. Thank goodness that will be at home. It's like they are a completely different team on the road.

Rockets have missed 11 of last 12 shots. Boyd 0-6.

Coach C emptying the bench. The wheels have come off and done rolled away...

70-36.

Win around 20 games. Exit after a game or two in Mac tourney. Win maybe once in WNIT. Seems like the average Cullop season. The AD and fan base won’t hold Cullop to higher standards for fear that she leaves and we go back to averaging 1500 fans a night

I'm not sure exactly what it would mean for the AD to hold her to a higher standard, other than to fire her if she doesn't meet a higher standard, in which case fearing that she might leave wouldn't really be an issue. As far as the fans, I suppose holding her to a higher standard could mean booing when her name is announced or choosing not to attend games. If that's what you mean, then I decline to hold her to a higher standard, although a certainly wouldn't mind a sweet 16 appearance.

Way to be over dramatic. No one is going to fire her as long as she wins around 20 games a season. But certainly she has to know that the fan base won’t grow and people will start to lose confidence if she doesn’t get back to the ncaa tournament with maybe a Sweet 16 or two appearance. She has been a head coach at Toledo for more than 10 years and has a WNIT title and 1 NCAA appearance. While that is admirable, I along with lots of other Lady Rocket fans expect more especially after the 10’11 season. Curt Miller and Sue Guevara are examples of what Cullop’s legacy could be at Toledo especially given the facilities, larger fan base, and success of other programs on campus.

You complained that the AD and the fans wouldn't hold her accountable. What did you mean by that? The only meaning that I could think of was the one that I gave. If there's another one, tell me what it is. How is the AD supposed to hold her accountable? How are the fans supposed to hold her accountable?

Kent beat Buffalo and is the 5 seed. I think the rockets caught a break there. I would rather play Ball State than Bowling Green. Especially with this team which is limping into the tourney after a poor effort against Eastern and the blowout at Central. Maybe a win against a weaker Ball State will give them some confidence going into the Cleveland games.

RE: WBB @ CMU Game Thread
Looks as if they saved their worst game of the year by far for the last game of the regular season----in theory it is not supposed to work this way. Anyway, this does provide a great test of character for Monday night and especially for the seniors---to wit, can this team take what may be the most embarrassing game in the seniors' four year career and use it to rev up their motors and come out on fire Monday night ....or will they just hang their heads ,throw in the towel and call it a year? My bets are that they will blow out Ball State and I plan tol be in Savage for the game. However, at this point I am not certain that their performance today warrants planning a trip to Cleveland on Wednesday although I expect that they will probably make it at least that far.

We won 4 straight before playing an NCAA tourney team on the road. We aren't limping.

Last year's CMU team was a NCAA tourney team. This year's team hasn't qualified for the tourney yet. And last year's team had Tinara Moore (19.1 pts/game) and Cassie Breen (12.1 pts/game). IMO those were big losses from the 2017-18 team. We will see how good this year's team is but I don't see them as strong as last year. They certainly have a short bench which got even shorter with their backup big in a sling. I don't think that a 33 point loss is something to ignore. One other observation .. Toledo was 8-0 in the conference against the 9-12 seeds this year and 3-7 against all other teams.

RE: WBB @ CMU Game Thread
The blowout isn't too big a surprise to me. Rockets were in a difficult position. They were coming off a double-overtime game Wednesday evening, in which two players played 49 minutes and another played 47. At CMU was a game we were likely to lose under any circumstances, and it also was a game that didn't matter. We weren't in the running for an NCAA at-large bid. We've already clinched an NIT bid. The 5 seed vs. the 6 seed doesn't make a difference. I imagine that Cullop wanted the chance to rest her players, and she got that chance due to the blowout.

Dwight

If let’s say Toledo loses Monday or Wednesday and loses out on an WNIT bid, she’ll start to feel some pressure. If you throw in a few more seasons of similar results then the pressure will start to mount. It’s not hard to figure out.

If she can get an ncaa tourney appearance every 4-5 years, she can probably stay here forever. She has done well here at Toledo. If you don’t agree that the program should be consistently winning 25 games a year with a sweet 16 or elite 8 appearance every 2-3 years then that’s fine. A lot of us after the WNIT title thought Cullop was the next Curt Miller or better. Sadly, she has not been...
