Beer Thread
Hello friends,
Anyone following ODUbbs knows that I am the beer guy there. I have never been to your neck of the woods but I intend to get out that way sometime in the future. What are some hot breweries? What are some of the style trends (what are people buying)? What do you like and drink yourself? This thread is for all those things. And what can I bring to the tailgate?

Style trend here is that we encourage our ladies to wear as little as possible on warm days.

Mississippi is not a Colorado or California when it comes to brewpubs because of antiquated laws that equated full-scale breweries with brewpubs (imagine that). Having said that, the Southern Prohibition Brewery in downtown H'burg has been receiving rave reviews, while The Porter and Keg and Barrel are located in unique, historical buildings with huge draft beer selections.
As for local bottled beer, I love me some Southern Pecan Ale (brewed on the Miss. Coast), while the different IPA's at Southern Prohibition are equal to anyplace in the aforementioned Colorado or California areas. I also love Abita Beers out of Abita Springs LA. The spring water they use is naturally effervescent, so it gives the beer a great frothy flavor that Coors used to have back in the day. Try the Strawberry Abita beer, it is not everyone's cup o' tea, but that area of Louisiana is strawberry country and it adds a unique taste to their amber beer!

RE: Beer Thread
I've had this year's Abita Strawberry beer and it was quite tasty. One of the breweries in Richmond did something similar a while back but they made theirs a strawberry milkshake flavored beer. Really odd but good.
I'm usually up for a gose so Biloxi's Salty Dog looks like it would be my speed.

Two blocks from the bay sounds like my kind of place.

Except if you're at McGuire's... skip the red, have the porter!
