Beer in the 'burg
Anyone who has been lurking over on ODUbbs knows that I am the beer guy there. In my travels, I have experienced some of the Harrisonburg beer scene. Friendly Fermenter has a Cheers-esque environment with decent beer. The Three Notch'd satellite has an interesting selection with board games to keep the mind busy. Brothers is the class of the town, IMO. Haven't been to Pale Fire or Restless Moons. Might eventually make it down to Staunton. Of course Cap Ale has phenomenal selection but by then I just get my schnitzel and an uber ride to the hotel. Tell me of your experiences with beer in your neck of the woods. I will be back that way eventually.

Beer in the 'burg
Go to Charlottesville and try something different, North American Sake Brewery. My brother, a JMU grad owns it

You might want to swing by Waynesboro en route and stop at Basic City and 7 Arrows. Then drive into the countryside and hit Stable Craft. I like all three of these and they are fairly close together. After that, you can go to Staunton or Harrisonburg quite easily.

Wasn’t aware of it but I will definitely stop by now sometime this weekend.

Basic City has some amazing IPA's. I haven't been to thier tasting room but it get's some distribution in SWVA.

I've had one beer by 7 Arrows, didn't know that they were out that way until I looked it up just now. Interesting. Never heard of Basic City but I do like the occasional IPA. Especially a dank one.

I've had both the 6th Lord (New England style IPA) and Bask (Imperial IPA). Both are really tasty.

I know this will be an unpopular opinion but I think Pale Fire is crap and is highly overrated. The beer isn't much to write home about and the atmosphere just sucks the life out of you (I don't know why, its just that every time I go there I feel like I lost 50% of my energy from when I walk in to when I leave, which is usually after only one or two beers). For a livelier beer scene, even if it isn't a brewery, go to Billy Jacks.

They have a nice restroom. I agree with you about the beer. They do a lot of community support events and are big JMU fans, and it's roomier than many beer places, but.... I get my free shirt book stamp and move on. I love Billy Jacks, it's the closest thing to those neighborhood bars I grew up with back in the Dark Ages. Think 10 cent drafts!, yeah that long ago.

Speaking of beer, I'm returning my daughter to JMU today. Are there any good places to watch the game? Hoping it's on tv.

RE: Beer in the 'burg
Went to Pale Fire once and had one drink. Not for me. Can’t get down with a place that doesn’t even have a TV with sports on it. (I think I’m thinking of the right place.)
