OT: AP Bio
Channel surfing last night. I caught an episode of AP Bio on NBC. Classroom comedy is based in Toledo at Whitlock(obviously Whitmer) HS. Totally took me off guard to see the Glass City on a sit com and the writers actually knew a little bit about it.

The writer went to St John's and the story is loosely based on a previous Biology teacher Mr Douglas (I had him) there. He was a corky guy who finished 2nd in his class at Harvard. In 2011 he became a professor at BGSUcks. No idea where the man is now. He is a pretty well known biologist with handfuls of discovered species of butterfly's.

The last successful sitcom with a fictional town based on Toledo was "That 70s Show." It was Point Place, WI on the show and creator/writer Bonnie Turner named it and based it on her hometown (though I don't think she's from the Point).

The show is not good enough to wait for the occasional Toledo reference IMO

Agreed. I thought that show was terrible.

I wasn't lucky enough to have him as a regular teacher, only a sub once or twice. Quirky is not a strong enough word to describe him. haha. I never understood how he had a job at SJJ.
