RE: 2019 CAA Football Offseason thread
I remember tailgating at the Richmond game last season with some family friends who went to UR. They were all joking/complaining that JMU “doesn’t even need to recruit high school kids anymore, its transfer U.”

Funny how they have the most now.

That’s always the whiny excuse for “we know we’re about to get our asses handed to us”.

I don't understand why people think calling JMU "Transfer U" would be an insult. Sorry our school is more appealing than many FBS and the vast majority of FCS schools in terms of athletics, facilities, fan support, and all while still being a very good academic institution

We play within the rules, just so happens that we are better than most at it

RU fans have a million excuses.

An old sweater vest turned around late in the game last year and asked me something along the lines of "I have a question for you, does Richmond have 20,000 students?"

I laughed and said "doesn't seem so" ... and he replied "alright then" as though that justified the total @ss whooping they were receiving.

That's funny. Under his logic the Dukes should be able to dominate Notre Dame since they only have 12,000 students.

And likewise, does JMU have near the endowment and alumni giving of Richmond? Much easier to free up funds for athletics when your academic side has so many resources to tap. How does Stanford compete so well against some of the nation's largest schools?

UD should be solid at LB this season.

Doubtful.
“Delaware must replace all of last season’s starting linebackers and defensive backs as expected linebacker returnee Colby Reeder has undergone back surgery and will miss the season.”
https://amp.delawareonline.com/amp/15096...ssion=true

Losing Colby Reeder, maybe their best returning defensive player (his older brother Troy Reeder was 1st team All CAA last season) in addition to their other 3 starting LBs, is what necessitated all the LB transfers in the 1st place.

The last game notes showing on their web site is for their regular season ending VU game. 7 of 12 offensive starters and 9 of 12 defensive starters were listed as seniors. With Colby Reeder out for the season, only 2 defensive starters showing back are 2 DL.

They had something like 31 seniors on last year’s roster. I thought before last season they would do better than barely making the playoffs, more like an 9-2 or 8-3. Rocco has never had a losing season as HC at Liberty/RU/UD, but they are going to be hard pressed to have a winning record, much less make the playoffs, esp with NDSU and @ Pitt. I was saying in 2017 Rocco was a year from really turning them around. I guess they’re still a year away...

UD making the playoffs was a turnaround by their standards since the 2010 runner up season.

Guess those P5 LBs better step up then. Wasn't aware of Reeder- too bad for him. His brother was a tough player.

It will be interesting to see how they do against NDSU this year.

Is that NDSU's first game of the year? If that game is tight/an upset, I wonder how much will be NDSU adjusting to their possible New World Order vs Delaware improving.

I actually think Rocco shines in this contest, and RU weeps at what could have been.

It’ll be a blowout and not in their favor. They’re nowhere close to being competitive with the best in FCS.

It's their 3rd game, they have Bulter and North Dakota before which is plenty of time to work out some growing pains with a new lineup
