wbb v Ball State ... Ouch
67-64 loss to Ball State tonight, but Northern still in the running for home game first round. Mikayla Voigt again the hot shooter (30 pts.), but rest of team zilch for threes. 7/26 all by Voigt. Ally May had 14 rebounds, Voigt and Riley Blackwell each 7.
On to WMU on Saturday. Last game, then Monday for MACC tournament.

Can’t predict anything. Ball State is a team NIU should have handled with ease.

In more ways than one. Aside from being a stellar basketball player, she is a fine lady and a great leader. She gives every ounce of her effort both on and off the court.

I dont follow the women as closely but totally see what you mean. She is probably the textbook definition of great teammate.

Yes she is, and she's also a great speaker and motivator. I really hate to see her leave, as I hated to see Ally Lehman, Kelly Smith, Amanda Corral, and so many others leave. These ladies left their guts on the court. The ladies who have graced the Convo Center court are all tremendous representatives of NIU. They are wonderful young women who are a credit to the sport and the university. The ladies truly play as a team and support each other on and off the court.

Agree +1,000. A home game in the MAC first round was already assured, but that didn't matter to them.
Northern was down 22-9 after 1st qtr. Huskies battled all the way back. Lead changed a zillion times, and it came down to 64-64. Ball State made a three-pointer with just 1.6 seconds left, and there just wasn't time, though Voigt managed to try a three to tie it. Fell just short.
And they were playing with a game roster of 8 ... again. These ladies really believe in themselves, the team, and the sport.

The sky is not falling- yes they should have won that game but as I recall Amanda C hit a buzzer beater to beat them at home that had everyone miffed after it was waived off..... Yes Voigt has been outstanding and stepped up her game and will be missed next year especially with Woods going down. I still believe Carlson and staff, with the women coming in next year will compete with CMU, Miami and Toledo. The Soph class is very solid and the staff have done an amazing job and this program is on the upswing. It is a shame more people don't attend their games and as pointed out in earlier posts- they play as a team and support each other. Carlson has changed the mindset and attitudes. STF and staff have been supportive of the wbb staff and players. Beat Western- advance to Cleveland and anything can happen. Now if the men's program could emulate Carlson's efforts and with the excitement of the FB program, NIU could and should pull in more fans and more $$$ to help offset the budget woes. Just my $0.02

Unfortunately there have been enough bad apples during the Montgomery and Patton eras to ruin the reputation of NIU as a highly functioning team. Not fair to the players that give it their all, but it is hard to have a cohesive team unit when you have those bad apples. Its not fair but that is just how it is. There have been many nights this year when it is apparent the effort and urgency is not where it should be (those are Coach Armato's words, not mine)

Sophomores need to up their game vastly. Nikitinaite averages almost 12 a game while Hodges and Blackwell average 8 and 5 respectively. All 3 shooting less than 30% from 3 and the latter 2 more turnovers than assists. The entire team turns it over a lot but that’s a byproduct of high tempo. They better make a big jump of they get recruited over hopefully.
This team needs someone not named Woods & Voight needs to step up and become a difference maker.
Voight will be missed dearly on and off the court. She will be an excellent alumni.
