Can we make a run?

I expect a tough game at Memphis and barring a meltdown of Wichita at Tulane a number 7 seed although an 8 is still possible.

Honestly I think this team can compete and win. The question is will it? Then how much of a run is needed to get them into the NIT? We already know a autobid is the only way for us to have a legit chance at the NCAA's. I'd love to see Tap and Jeffeies get a post season, but one of the reasons I am excited about Jackson and Joiner taking leadership roles is that you can often ride emotions to victory. In the post season even more so, DJ and Tap are more get it done types and I think the team will responded better to the sparkplugs that are Joiner and Jackson, the other players seem to feed off it.

I like your optimism. Unfortunately I do not feel the same way. I cannot think of a year that a Haith team really overachieved in the post season. I see our 1st round game as probably a 50/50 game. After that we're probably playing Cincinnati who will likely pummel us. I've pretty much thrown in the towel on this team. They just don't have that champion mentality and neither does their coach.

Actually he has done decent in post season, although usually we shine for the second half of conference play and then fade. I am hoping the team is just late in blooming, although the second half has had a good deal of oddness to it. Sick players and injuries to Scott, Jeffries and Falokoun.

I honestly feel an NIT is our best shot. The issue is that should have been last years team and this year should have at least been bubble. The home loss to Cincy and the loss at UCF made that hard, but the clock cleaning he took from Marshall doomed Haith and the team. We win that game and we are most likely sixth with a chance at fifth and the opportunity to play into the dance.

I totally agree about those 4 games being season changers. We win those 2 against Cincy, UCF, and the 2 againt WSU and it's a totaly different scenario. Maybe we can make a run in the conf. tourney and play into the NIT. That's best case scenario to me as well.

RE: Tourney Time
Need a bit of a miracle to have a chance at sixth, but most of the seeds are getting locked in after tonight.

#1/2 Cincy/Houston

#3/4 Temple/UCF

#5 Memphis
#6 Wichita*
#7 Tulsa*
#8 USF*

#9/10 UConn/SMU*

#11 ECU
#12 Tulane

*if favored teams win on Saturday. (Wichita @ Tulane, Tulsa @ Memphis, SMU @ USF)

So we will likely play SMU in Memphis and then if we win face either Houston or Cincinnati. A upset in the quarters probably will get us an NIT bubble. Max there are 15 NIT bid thieves so our NET needs to be sub 80 to have a shot.

A path to the championship seems more feasible given a six seed and a second round vs Temple whom we have beat or UCF who we had a good chance to beat on the road. Regardless the Tournament will only be quality games for our resume, we just have to win.

RE: Tourney Time
So crazy enough, the way things are falling and the fact that some teams are performing well a win by New Orleans today and a few other top seeds closing out their wins may mean Tulsa has a far outside chance at an NIT bid. Crazy as it sounds. We need our NET to continue to rise. The close game against Houston will help Memphis who we have a win against as will the tight game Cincy game for Wichita. That may help pull up our scores a tiny bit as a secondary effect.
