RE: Best record all-time
GS is unique in that we have 2 distinct eras of football.

Prior to WW2, we went 60-78-9 (0.439).
Since the restart in 1982, we're 329-142-1 (0.698).

Since moving to FBS, we're 35-27 (0.565). Thanks Tyson!

Tyson was only the HC for 18 games and he’s responsible for nearly 10 percent of our modern day losses. I don’t know if I should laugh or cry.

Honestly didn't think CrApp state hate could grow. Three coaches spanning 3.5 years responsible for 45%.

Until about 8 years ago our athletic department could have cared less about football. AKA piss poor management

UTA, aka Arlington State, aka North Texas Agricultural College played from 1919 to 1985 inclusive and was 329-281-25 for an overall winning percentage of .518. Those years included 1919 to 1959 as a JC, during which era ASC won two Junior Rose Bowl national championships. The 1967 Rebels team won the "College Division" national championship and defeated NDSU in the Pecan bowl. UTA was FBS equivalent level from 1971 to 1981, going 49-71, winning percentage .408. UTA won the last Southland Conference championship before that conference dropped down to Iaa in 1982. UTA's best team was probably in 1979, when the Mavericks went 9-2 and defeated SWC school TCU 21-14.

68% over .500, a lot of FCS wins and bad programs dropping the sport for that to happen.

Perhaps that and the teams that are below 50% are WAY below 50%.

True. It's amazing how many perennial doormats exist in the Power 5 conferences, and despite their ineptitude, it must feel more prestigious to be a loser Kansas in the BigXII than to possibly be a winner elsewhere. Maybe that's what killed a couple of former conferences like the SWC and WAC. It had to be a drag for Texas to keep having to play the likes of Rice, Baylor and TCU. Or in the Big8, it had to be downlifting for OU and Nebraska to have to play ISU, KU and the other weak sisters.

I much prefer the promotion and relegation schemes of the English soccer leagues. It makes sense to me for the last place AA team to be demoted to the A league, while the A league champs can be promoted to the AA league.

This is the kind of downward mobility that Rice deserves, and the upward mobility that Boise State should get. And it would be nice to avoid the politics that seem to always prevent Houston from assuming its rightful place in a P5 conference. But alas, we are living in a fallen world.
