Two big questions remain: Will this be the worst team the PAC has or will it be at least a #5 or better PAC team? And...will this bowl be played after Christmas?

AZ bowl becoming a MW vs MAC matchup. Wonder if the MAC is giving up the Potato for the AZ bowl? I certainly would!

An LA bowl in a new stadium vs the Pac12 is a pretty darn good replacement for Vegas. 04-cheers

Basically the old Freedom Bowl when WAC teams played PAC teams

The Holiday Bowl is the best (non-playoff eligible) bowl out West. It is not a bad trip and weather is usually not a problem (unlike playing bowls in the Bay Area).

except for this past year when it was played in a driving rain storm.

When Cal renovated Memorial Stadium several years ago, NIMBYs living near the stadium sued in the hope of tying the project up in court so long that the university would give up on it. To get rid of the lawsuit and get the work done, the university entered into a settlement agreement with those [bleep]ers that limits the number of "large events" other than Cal football games to one or two events a year. (Events that don't draw football-game sized crowds, e.g. graduation ceremonies and Olympic sports events, are not restricted.)

The idea of Black Hole denizens taking over Stanford's stadium is hilarious, but pretty obvious to see why Stanford types would never permit it.

It will be -- if it's ready by then. The original target date for completion was June 2020. They've already moved that target back to August 1, 2020.

The Raiders apparently aren't 100% confident of playing in Vegas in 2020, either, because they recently signed a lease in Oakland that gives the Raiders a team option to play in Oakland in 2020, as well as 2019.

The team has not actually signed the lease. There may be a holdup.

https://wdef.com/2019/03/06/raiders-deal...ant-issue/

They need a divorce from the City of Oakland. It would be best for both sides. The 2020 option was just in case something went wrong, like an Act of God (earthquake). The Raiders have known about the August 1, 2020 date for about 18 months. The lease is going up from $3.5 million in 2018 to $7.5 million in 2019 to the option year of $10.5 million in 2020. The Coliseum is a dump. They need to leave Oakland.

That's all well and good, but they need some place to play home games while their new stadium gets built.

So... Any word on the Sun Bowl? Still ACC vs. Pac 12?

MAC is probably content with two regulars vs. MWC. They also have the Bahamas with CUSA.

That leaves 3 ties...18 over 6 years to cover. Myrtle, Boca, Mobile, Camelia...N.O? I hope the MAC opens up the Alabama games this cycle.

Well--we already know Myrtle Beach is 4 of those years.

I wouldnt expect any change---but if there is--I suspect the Big12 and AAC would both be very interested in that slot vs the Pac12. FWIW--a poster on the MW bulletin board posted Jon Wilners (who covers the Pac12 closely for the Mercury News) expectations of the "evolving" Pac-12 bowl line up.

Here’s the evolving, unofficial lineup:

1. Rose Bowl vs. Big Ten (or CFP/New Year’s Six)
2. Alamo Bowl vs. Big 12
3/4. Holiday Bowl vs. ACC
4/3. Las Vegas Bowl vs. Big Ten/SEC
5. Redbox Bowl vs. Big Ten
6. Sun Bowl vs. ACC
7. Los Angeles Bowl vs MWC
8. Cactus Bowl vs. Big 12

Since the ACC had 10 bowl tie-ins last year and is moving to 11 bowl tie-ins for 2020... and the only bowl they are adding is the Holiday (and swapping Outback for Citrus)... I assume all other bowl ties remain the same. Possibly at most the opponent changes (like the Belk Bowl).

LOL yup...I think San Diego averages 10" of a rain a year...basically a desert.

Somehow I seem to get rained on more in San Diego than when I’m in Seattle. Got poured on yesterday as a got into town there.
