Actually, you're correct. DePaul split the $170 million cost with the public Pier/Expo authority, and wintrust bought the naming rights (which depaul got $$ for). the depaulian, a student pub, recently said that depaul's campus is 7 miles north and most students are and stay up that way.

ayway, this is me back to the huskies. i don't get espn+, and the a.m. just kicked its wattage down for the night, so what the h--- is going on? huskies were down by 3 at half. i'm going to livestats.

this post fell in between some others. apologies. back to game

First of all, what is "the a.m."?

As for the Huskies, they've dominated the paint and have just stuck with it. Both rebounding and scoring. Tons of 2nd chance points/opportunities. As for CMU, they were on fire from 3 point for about 25 minutes and have since gone cold and NIU has just kept dealing from inside. James and McCarty have been bosses inside.

a.m. or am is am radio. wattage is required to kick down or change antenna patterns after dark since am waves travel further at night and may interfere with other close frequencies.

Not sure if it is spring break for them. Attendance is a problem in a lot of places. I’ve seen it at DePaul as well and they play Big East teams.

McGuirk Arena capacity is 5,300 and it is pretty empty tonight.

Yeah, I can't imagine a stadium in D1 basketball that is smaller than the Convo Center with the current setup of the seats.

At the game against EMU this past Saturday, none of the upper bowl seats were pulled out. So we have an arena that’s half used and, to be honest, they could even cut the lower bowl in half and recess those seats. Pretty sad.

They never pull those seats out. Has been like that for probably at least 4 years (probably more). I do remember when they used to though. I'd always by upper bowl tickets and then sit in the lower bowl. Because...yeah...they've never filled that place.

Btw, I was there too. If I'd had been at home watching, I'd have been in a really bad mood. But I was with family and had a good time. Then, after the game, our godson's older sisters go to school in DeKalb and Lacey James' mom is a teacher there and he came out to talk to us after the game.

He comes off as a really nice young man. And as you know, he had a really frustrating game with foul trouble the entire game having to sit for a ton. Still, a really nice guy and seems to come from a really nice family.

I have been to several games where they pulled out the upper bowl seats on one side (north side). All the seats were pulled out for the “fill the Convo” game on February 16 (the bobblehead game).

I was at the BGSU game as well, and, the arena looks so much better with all the seats pulled out.

st of the three

I remember back about 6 years ago thinking it was odd that every team NIU played had a career game from 3 pointer against them. Really seemed unfortunate. Then the next year....I noticed it again. Seemed strange that it could be bad luck, but how could they be that bad.

Then year after year after year, it's the same thing. Teams shoot lights out against the Huskies from 3.

It's amazing that the coaching staff has never figured out how to defend the 3.

Most of the threes were defended and some of the others were from NBA range so don't go by the numbers, you have to watch the game.

A W? That is unexpected. Wow. Congrats to the guys for finally pulling one out.

Levi getting angry at the end of his career. James a beast on the glass.

If I'm reading the standings correctly, win at Ball State and they get the 8th seed? Seemed impossible 3 hours ago.

It was a great night for NIU except for Akron beating BGSU now the only way for NIU to get a home game is by beating Ball St. Huskies win Friday night and they host 1st round game Monday at 8pm.

A Huskie win Friday and Akron loss at Kent St Friday and NIU is the 7th seed. Akron upsetting BGSU tonight was very bad for us.[/i]

Would be nice to get to the bottom of the bracket and avoid buffalo in the quarters.

I hope NIU can win a couple more games and get invited back to the The Vegas 16 tournament. The Vegas 16 tournament that could only find 8 teams.

Just joking. The Vegas 16 tournament just lasted one year. They took our money and closed up. Thanks SF.

RE: mbb @ CMU
Here are 2 seeding projections, in both projections the following are assumed for Friday's results
Toledo defeats EMU at home
CMU defeats WMU on the road
Kent State defeats Akron at home
Ohio defeats Miami at home
Buffalo defeats BGSU at home

Projection 1
Assuming most likely outcome of BSU win over NIU

#1 Buffalo 16-2 vs. #9 Ball State 7-11/#8 Miami 7-11
#2 Toledo 13-5 vs #10 Northern Illinois 7-11/#7 Akron 8-10
#3 Bowling Green 12-6 vs #11 Ohio 6-12/#6 Eastern Michigan 9-9
#4 Kent State 11-7 vs #12 Western Michigan 2-16/#5 Central Michigan 10-8

Tiebreaks
Ball State, NIU, Miami (three way records Miami 2-1, Ball State 2-2, NIU 1-2)

Projection 2
Keeping all above projections in Projection 1 the same except NIU defeating BSU

#1 Buffalo 16-2 vs. #9 Miami 7-11/#8 Akron 8-10
#2 Toledo 13-5 vs #10 Ohio 6-12/#7 Northern Illinois 8-10
#3 Bowling Green 12-6 vs #11 Ball State 6-12/#6 Eastern Michigan 9-9
#4 Kent State 11-7 vs #12 Western Michigan 2-16/#5 Central Michigan 10-8

Tiebreaks
NIU, Akron (even head to head, NIU 1-0 vs UB, Akron 0-2 vs UB)
Ohio, Ball State (Ohio 2-0 head to head)

To be honest looking at these projections, I think the Huskies should root for the 8 seed instead of a 7 (which would involve Akron getting a win @ Kent), get off that Toledo line, and get Buffalo to start the games in Cleveland. Maybe Buffalo comes out with some rust.

Other considerations:

If NIU gets into a 3 way tie with Akron and Miami, NIU wins out.

If you would have told me there is a chance Ball State could finish as an 11 seed going into the last week of the season, I would have said there is a better chance NIU is playing in the CFP next season. Unbelievably disappointing year for the Cardinals. Frustrating to think if NIU had taken care of business vs EMU at home, and then beats Ball State Friday, they could have been a 6 seed and on the line to meet a struggling BGSU squad
