I am keeping my excitement level up by trying to anticipate when STF extends Monty’s contract for another 2 or 3 years. The Star needs to be on high alert and keep us all informed.

I thought someone posted that it was, to June 30, 2021. Regardless, this game will happen, and it's still the Huskies, and we're still fans.

I know it was extended. I’m talking about another extension beyond that - to 2023 or 2024.

RE: mbb @ CMU
oh ... no, nO, NO !!!! STF has GOT to be listening to fans at some point in time. At least once. If not, then hopefully he can see the empty seats. Or trip over them. Or something. I almost cringe when I read that Toledo averages over 4,000 ... for wbb. I don't have any idea what they average for mbb. Since STF is a business-type guy, give him a calculator and let him figure how many tickets are NOT being sold for X# of games over a season and calculate the $$ that are NOT coming in. Or how many students have ZERO interest in supporting a zilch program.
Meanwhile, we who hang on will continue hanging on.

RE: mbb @ CMU
I know calling for a new head coach is nothing new, but this perimeter defense is terrible. I remember back about 6 years ago thinking it was odd that every team NIU played had a career game from 3 pointer against them. Really seemed unfortunate. Then the next year....I noticed it again. Seemed strange that it could be bad luck, but how could they be that bad.
Then year after year after year, it's the same thing. Teams shoot lights out against the Huskies from 3.
It's amazing that the coaching staff has never figured out how to defend the 3.

Watching the game, I don’t feel as bad about our attendance. CMU is empty and the stadium is much smaller. They are a 20 win team. Not sure if it is spring break for them. Attendance is a problem in a lot of places. I’ve seen it at DePaul as well and they play Big East teams.

McGuirk Arena capacity is 5,300 and it is pretty empty tonight.

Yeah, I can't imagine a stadium in D1 basketball that is smaller than the Convo Center with the current setup of the seats.

Needless to say, the point is still valid. The place is empty.

CMU is on spring break through March 11. Two home games before break, 1,900 and 2,500. McGuirk seats 5,300. The Dad went to DePaul, way way back, and they've always had trouble with attendance because no big arena attached to downtown campus. I saw a game at the Horizon (now called something else), DePaul-V-Georegtown. DePaul was winning. Place was packed. Winning is not the whole answer, but it goes a long way.

DePaul does have a downtown stadium now (Wintrust Arena) although it's not attached to campus.

I know. And still not drawing. Many articles about how it might be a boondoggle (and some fancy financial footwork) if DePaul doesn't start winning and drawing fans.

Honestly, I don't care if all three of CMU's fans stay home (I don't know who those other people are). I just want the Huskies to win!

Yeah. I still don't understand why they built a stadium down by McCormick Place. I know they're kind of landlocked where they are, but seems like there would be come available real estate for the money they would be offering that is much closer.

And yeah... I have no idea what I'm talking about. I know they don't own it. I don't know why I said it like that or what I'm thinking.

At the game against EMU this past Saturday, none of the upper bowl seats were pulled out. So we have an arena that’s half used and, to be honest, they could even cut the lower bowl in half and recess those seats. Pretty sad.

They never pull those seats out. Has been like that for probably at least 4 years (probably more). I do remember when they used to though. I'd always by upper bowl tickets and then sit in the lower bowl. Because...yeah...they've never filled that place.
Btw, I was there too. If I'd had been at home watching, I'd have been in a really bad mood. But I was with family and had a good time. Then, after the game, our godson's older sisters go to school in DeKalb and Lacey James' mom is a teacher there and he came out to talk to us after the game.
He comes off as a really nice young man. And as you know, he had a really frustrating game with foul trouble the entire game having to sit for a ton. Still, a really nice guy and seems to come from a really nice family.
