Read the other day Amazon was using artificial intelligence to help sort through resumes. It "learned" that men were better candidates and used that as a criteria. They changed the algorythm.

I don't do the twitter thing but occasionally I'll do just what you said and read the (insert any of hundreds of adjectives to describe idiocy here) comments. After only a few minutes I have to leave and say goodbye forever to the brain cells I lost while reading some of that crap. Damnit, I NEED those cells, I do not have an over-abundance as it is.

Worst part of this all is how many genders Google assumed

Woman goes to college.
Woman gets a degree in the same field as Man.
Woman and Man go to work for the same company doing the same thing.
Woman and Man get paid the same thing.

Five years later, Woman takes two years off to have kids.
Woman lists the two years of “life experience” on her resume right next to her “work experience”.
Woman goes back to work.
Woman finds out she’s making less money than Man is.
Woman goes to Company to find out why.
Company tells Woman that “life experience” does not equate to “work experience”.
Woman gets mad and tells Company it’s wrong.
Company shows off reams of objective data demonstrating just the opposite.
Woman goes off and starts a movement because she wants to prove everybody wrong.

The above is the same battle that has been fought at least ten thousand times since the ‘70s in this country. The studies almost always show the same thing: no matter what their upbringing or attitude, men almost always sacrifice home life for work life, while women do just the opposite.

Google finding this out the hard way should be a warning against the stupidity inherent in ignoring empirical data to follow your feelings...but it won’t be.
