DAMN YOU!:) This is a direct reflection on Joey. He will say we need to pay football more to attract a good candidate. Meanwhile, he and Casey traveled all over the country to find a guy that can 1-run around with enthusiasm 2- grow a beard 3-be ok working with his egotistical ass 4- leave after the first winning season. We can only pray that Joey is out when the new President comes in.

Would someone please explain what I am missing with the salary figures in this article compared to the contract (FOI request caused release) for Coach Lewis . The salary and befits listed in the article are double what the contract revealed and the incentives (good luck getting that National Champ bonus) aren't that large to double the contract value.

There may be others, but you are the first person I have seen that appears to have issues with Coach Lewis. Why?

I know Ohio St. has the money to do it but why spend 400,000 on a coach for men’s volleyball and women’s rowing. How about using the money for academics. It is a University isn’t it?

I just find it sad how hes growing out beards and running around doing talks. He needs to win football games. Then he can go on to his next stop. I dont believe in the theory that modern athlete likes these shenanigans. Sell yourself and more importantly a great university.

Does Title IX come in to play regarding money for female coaches?

I try to look at Hustle Belt about once a week - far more talk about football than hoops - they haven't updated the men or women's power rankings for weeks. It's sad given that the women's programs are particularly good this year and could make some noise in the NCAAs

Maybe but if they wouldn’t pay the men’s volleyball coach so much they wouldn’t have to pay the womens rowing coach either. Out of 350 or so D1 programs only 30 schools have those two sports. The whole thing is getting kind of silly.

Listed below portion of article from "Kent Wired" shortly after Coach Lewis signed. No way with benefits Lewis is making over $800,000.00 a year.
Here’s how Lewis’ contract, which runs through 2023, breaks down: He will get $440,000 in each of his first two years, $460,000 in his third and fourth years and $480,000 in his fifth year. According to Cleveland.com, the $2.3 million figure is “likely a pay cut” from his previous job as co-offensive coordinator at Syracuse.
Lewis’ first-year salary of $440,000 puts him near the bottom of the Mid-American Conference, according to USA Today’s FBS head coach salary database.

The results of the last two recruiting classes by this staff would seem to indicate you couldn’t possibly be more wrong.

I think if you look closely at the wording under Kent- $880k for "football coach" at KSU- references SL and PH in article-not sure of split between SL salary +benefits ($440++) and remainder to PH( end of contract/insurance etc) benefit...seems like SL is near bottom of MAC football coaches salary etc.

Recruiting classes?! Yea, I will not hold my breath on his rankings. Seventh in the MAC is an improvement especially when a recruit knows are history but lets not get overly excited.
