Pac 12 = 0
(faux) Big East = 2
American = 3

The trajectory of the American in basketball is quite encouraging. I think what we're seeing from Memphis and UCONN is a rebirth of historically strong programs. Wichita is really young but well coached. USF is rising. UC will always be there.

Midtgaard of Wichita will be a GREAT player in his senior year. He is a sophomore now.

This has the potential to be a new "Metro" conference in both basketball and football much like the old one in the 70s and 80s...If we can build on this, and maybe next year have Memphis and UConn join UC and Houston in the Top 25, this could become a fun conference in a hurry.

If USF can continue its trajectory then we can add them to the mix maybe the year following...

The fact that schools like Houston and UCF have elevated their programs, combined with schools like Wichita, UConn and Memphis that will hopefully be back to top 25 type teams soon makes for a ton of optimism as far as where the conference is heading at least on the court for basketball purposes.

On the road vs #25 and then home against #12 this week. Brings back the nostalgia of the old big east days.

Oh, and Ill add our game against Houston should be another one of the highest rated AAC games in league history not to mention good potential on the national scene. Duke playing at Carolina on Saturday helps too.

This isnt "old Big East" to me but starting to get the old 2000-2005 CUSA feel with UC (Huggs), UL (Pitino), Marquette (Crean), and Memphis (Cal) were making CUSA a 4, 5, 6 bid league every year.

I'm not there yet, but if we see Memphis/Uconn/Wichita back as top 25 type teams consistently I will be. I have a lot of faith that Wichita will be there as long as they have Marshall. Memphis and Uconn we just need to see it. I'm hopeful, but only time will tell.

I don't see UCF maintaining either. Once Fall, Taylor and eventually Dawkins are gone, I could see them going back to very mediocre. But like you said....time will tell.

I think Temple has a better chance to rise than UCF. Aaron McKie will recruit the Philly area well. If they can become the #2 destination option behind Villanova for Philly area kids, they will be formidable. Better Temple than Seton Hall, Rutgers, St. Joe's and LaSalle. Penn State is not a destination for Philly kids. McKie has NBA cred and that will be an attraction. See Penny Hardaway.

Did a quick look but it appears that this week in college basketball there are only 4 games between rated teams ...our two match-ups, Virginia Tech/Florida State and Duke/North Carolina.

I'm tellin' ya, if we beat UCF Thursday night, get ready for a big time ratings return and national interest for Sunday's game against the Coogs. We have a legit shot to better the current highest rated Sunday noon game broadcast by CBS:

2017-18 MEN’S BASKETBALL REGULAR SEASON
CINCINNATI @ WICHITA STATE 1.2 ON CBS
(HIGHEST-RATED CBS GAME IN NOON WINDOW ON FINAL REGULAR SEASON SUNDAY SINCE 2012)

Far and away the thing the AAC does best is scheduling...my God, they've hit it out of the park in both of the revenue sports when it comes to end of season matchups over the last few years.

I think I saw somewhere that the reason we're not on his list is b/c he goes by kenpom numbers, and at least at the time of voting, we we're not in the top 25 there.

If he gives a lot of weight to kenpom those numbers make sense. Honestly UC may be around 30th in quality of play this year, but the good news is the way they have performed in close games they probably have a resume closer to a 5 or 6 seed. (top 20-25 team)

Not as good, but kind of like Xavier last year where all the numbers suggested they were somewhere around the 15th best team, but they had a great record in close game and their resume was that of a 1 seed.
