Can't play 2/3 of the game like crap and before developing a sense of urgency against a good team and expect to win...

Just remember that Murray Bartow was fired for less. I think it is time for a change.

RE: UTSA Game Thread
Yeah I dont know, I'm kinda torn on this now. After we lost 4 straight or whatever to some terrible teams I was all about moving on from Rob but he kinda salvaged things with a top pod finish, but that's partially because this conference is exceptionally bad this year. There seems to be a lot of good pieces in place for next year but theres also some gaping holes. If Rob comes back the expectation should be a good OOC season, however that's measured, and being one of the best teams in the league both record wise and statistically.

RE: UTSA Game Thread
we need to make a little bit money with football and after that take care of basketball
we dont have any one inside except lewis and he is too small and not big enough for this position
guye and pearson are stick
one can not play basketball and the other one think that he is tall guard but he can not dribble , or catch pass
why when we shoot the 3 , no one from uab is close to the basket
cusa men basketball is terrible
cusa ref are terrible
cusa tv is even worse
and UAB can not even be the best team of one of the worst conference

+1 Sullivan kept it from getting away from us in the first half. Rest of the guys eventually woke up but not in time to get over the hump.

Legitimate question: what are people expecting while we’re stuck in this conference? Rob is playing with the hand he’s been dealt, bad attendance, bad conference, “meh” facilities, etc. Until we get out of this conference, or up the funding (a lot), expecting anything other than what we’ve gotten this year is crazy.

So because were in a sucky conference we should suck? I get theres a ceiling being in this conference but expecting to be one of the best teams in a bad conference isnt unreasonable. Should Gonzaga suck because they're in the WCC?

Good questions and a legitimate topic but probably not in the game thread.

Put another way, Rob is a .500 conference coach playing the worst in by far the worst conference strength of schedule wise in the history of UAB basketball.
He started his tenure as head coach as almost comically ill prepared to lead a D1 basketball team and ran a 26 win team into the ground. In the 3 years since he has climbed from one of the worst coaches in terms of game prep that I have ever seen in D1 to the level of simply bad. If bad is as good as you think we can do then keep defending Eshan.

Just know UAB basketball under him has become the anchor that is going to keep us in this conference at a time when the long term survival of UAB athletics depends on getting out of it. I have no faith that our AD is going to make a change at the end of the year, but if we want a ticket to ride during the next (and likely final) round of FBS football realignment, we need a big shot of momentum in our basketball program so that it isnt going to be seen as a negative in those realignment discussions. .

It will be football that gets us to a new conference. That is why there is very little money that is unfortunately allocated to basketball. More money is needed. I can go on, but I think it will fall on deaf ears.

Should we compare how much money fans give to Gonzaga basketball compared to us? Or compare attendance? And the WCC might as well be the ACC compared to our current league. Theyve actually gotten multiple bids to the NCAA Tournament in recent years.

I’m not saying I’m happy with the situation either. But until there’s a change made that’s out of Ehsan’s control, expecting anything other than having to win the conference tournament to make the NCAA Tournament is crazy.

Oh please. ECU, Tulane, SMU, and Houston all got invited to the American without having good basketball at the time. You know what got them moved (other than Tulane)? Football.

Stop blaming the conference, Wofford and buffalo seem to make it work. Agree Ehsan needs to go

His former boss Haase is not exactly setting the world on fire out west either. He's barely trending water at .500 ball. Below .500 conference play this year.
