RE: 2019 MLB Thread
really liking where Nats are right now for getting a wild card bid. If the Nats can finish 20-19, it would take not only Cards/Cubs to be ahead of them, but also a 2nd team to finish last 6 weeks on a over 100 win pace.... Brewers/Phillies/Mets would need to go 24-14(102 pace), Giants 25-12(109 win pace), Arizona 26-11(114 win pace). So think Wild Card now for the Nats is probably the floor.

And really for the Cubs/Cards- they both if they go .500 rest of the season would finish at 85-77. For Brewers/Phillies/Mets to beat- would need to go 22-16(94 win pace). For Giants 23-14(101 win pace). For Arizona(105 win pace). So really looks like the playoff teams are going to be Dodgers/Braves/Cubs/Cards/Nats. With the Brewers as the most possible outsider crashing that party as they could get in for either Cubs or Cards....

Rockies season just keeps getting worse. Their best pitcher Scott Oberg got blood clots in his right arm and is done for the season. Wade Davis cones into close and he was pulled after 3 hitters and not getting an out.

They won the game today but big deal.

1-2 count and he grooves one. 4th major league appearance. It happens; he’s a work in progress. Dude’s stuff is insane so this is a low risk high reward effort. If he can be a competent reliever that’d be a terrific boost.

That one pitch...yeah, good for us, but our journeyman OF fill-in had a great day for himself. In the grand scheme this series meant almost nothing to the Dodgers. They played well enough to win all 3, but a few things didn't go their way. Meanwhile, for Braves this series helps with confidence a bit. Kinda banged up now, missing basically a whole starting outfield (Markakis, Inciarte and Riley--plus Swanson out at Short) All-Star outfielder getting lazy Andrew Jones-style (Snitker doing a good Bobby Cox by pulling him). Shame he couldn;t hold on to Bellinger's HR in 1st. Lucky we got the series win. BP 2nd two games did better. Hope these guys settle down a bit. Now a series with pesky Marlins, then a one-off to Colorado and back to east coast next day vs. Metz. This will be a tough week. Nats are hot on our tails, so we can't let up any here.

At least you don;t have to travel across the country and back for 1 game with no rest days.

these next 14 for the Braves are huge. Miami, Mets, then Colorado, Blue Jays, then White Sox, and Blue Jays again...…
meanwhile for Nats- Pirates, Cubs, Orioles, Marlins, and Mets(15 games)….

then in September- Sep 5-8 4 games Was @ Atl, Sep 13-15 Atl @ Was. In between- for Was Sep 10-12 @ Min, Sep 16-18 @ Stl. For Atl- Sep 9-12 @ Phi, Sep 17-19 Phi. Just going to be insane there.

Arizona got more runs off of Mad Bum Sunday than they did against the two scrubs + Samardjia the three previous games combined.

Here's your chance to catch us. Your schedule is about as favorable as it can get right now. Sorry about Doolittle, stinks when injuries take a key player. We're also having our share. How bad do you think it hurts ya'll without him?

Either way, I like Braves' playoff chances a lot more as division winners than wild card. We haven't won one of those yet, and we don't have any go-to lights out starters for a winner take all game.

I'm impressed with how AZ has hung in there and appears to be accomplishing a partial rebuild without totally tanking. What do you need to catch even with Dodgers next season (assuming you don't make WC this year, which would be tough right now.)?

A- he's not hurt, it's the bogus injury to give a guy 10 days off. Thank God next year pitchers go to 15, and that'll slow down this trend quite a bit I think.....
b- how poorly he's done, very hard for someone to do much worse.

The Dodger's TV Deal :)

Mike Hazen has done a great job of rebuilding the farm system, but the main push of talent is probably another year out (Sept 2020 callup, 2021)

The biggest weakness was the bullpen. Team has blown dozens of games were they had a late lead.

SP took major hits, and not just with Greinke leaving.

Luke Weaver is gone for the season. We were expecting Taijuan Walker back. The SP prospects for the most part aren't ready, but some were forced up, and showed they weren't ready.

Dbacks are set at:

C: Carson Kelly is 24
1B: Christian Walker is good. But will be pushed by Beers, Pavin Smith or Kevin Cron
2B: Marte was an all-star here, but also is a great CF. Escobar can play here as well
SS: Nick Ahmed has the position on lock.
3B: Escobar is better here, Jake Lamb returning to form would allow Escobar to play more second

OF: This is where the Dbacks weakness is - need more power and consistency.

If D backs didn’t play the Rockies Ahmed would be on the pine, he kills the Rockies.

sounds like Sale doesn't need TJ surgery now, but is done for the regular season. Got a PRP shot in his elbow. Will be re-evaluated in 6 weeks- but even there not expected in any form for playoffs....

If he still needs TJ surgery early in '20- they could be screwing themselves out of '21 now as well.....

RE: 2019 MLB Thread
Joe Ross shutting down Pittsburgh again tonight(I know, I'm taking a chance putting the hex on Ross)….

one good thing with how his season has gone- he's only at 45.2 innings in the MLB this year. Add in 40 minor league innings and only at 85. So if 160 was/is the limit- he's in great shape. Figure that he's got at most like 7 starts left. So 130 seems very reasonable- giving him plenty of bullets for the postseason...

You know that you have this power yet you continue to wield it so recklessly! Remember: With great power comes great responsibility.

I'm hoping it's just a why take a chance up 11-0 type of thing.

Saw X-Rays were negative. More on Shin than Knee-cap. Probably got really lucky.
