I was the most vocal proponent of the two never playing at the same time. For the past five games or so they seem to have adjusted, at least on the offensive end. James is getting touches and points that early he was not. The defense still suffers but the rebounding improves. Also we have nobody other than Ty to play the wing competently.

If there is any coach in the MAC that makes Murphy look like he knows what he’s doing, it’s Monty. How on earth does that guy still have a job? Have they ever been over .500 in MAC play in his tenure?

Agreed. Monty and Murphy are two of the lesser d1 coaches in the country.

Nope. One year he was .500 and that's the best he's done. And they extended his contract a little while back so he's on contract until 2021 I believe. I think he got a break because he's not Ricardo Patton, who was even worse. This was the year for us too, as we lose most of our best players.

With this team he might have been over .500 in some of his earlier years when the MAC was a lot worse. Not this year.

We probably just don't have the money to pay the rest of his contract and get a new coach. That's the only reason I can think of why he's still the coach.

Likewise Murphy.

I simply cannot figure why MAC AD's hand out contract extensions so freely. The term "locking him in" is laughable, just ask WMU how their big raise and extension worked with PJ Fleck when Minnesota came calling with deeper pockets. The only locked in party is the University when a coach decides to mail it in with four years left on his contract.
