I heard Forbes, maybe on Monday's coaches' show, say that this year he'd play in any post-season tournament. It's not tough to imagine the Bucs would get an invite to some tournament, maybe even getting a home game. That'd be nice.

Would be cool if actually did play Arizona. Brings back memories of ‘92 NCAA upset of #3 Wildcats by #14 Bucs. Wildcats had been ranked top 5 all year and high as #2. That is my favorite all time Buc team. Next game scored 90 points vs Michigan’s Fab Five but lost.

What would really tickle me if for us to win the automatic NCAA bid in Asheville and Wofford get an at large bid to NCAA and then Furman and UNCG get at large bids to the NIT. I think all bids would be deserved!

RE: Michigan Fab 5 vs ETSU, 1992. That win over us was vacated by the NCAA due to some of Michigan's players taking money from an agent. Any mention of that game that refers to a loss by us needs an asterisk. You can make a case that the money is what put that team together in the first place.

Putting this question here....According to the ETSU website's online ticket ordering page, ETSU has sold out their allotment for SoCon tourney tickets. Anyone know how many were in the allotment?

This is why I think we make the NIT. We are 66th RPI and 71 Kenpom after last night's loss. As a comparison, last year we finished 93rd Kenpom and 94th RPI. This is the difference between a conference ranked 11th this year and 16th last year.

Well, but that site is just some guy's opinion. Assuming Wofford doesn't lose, I'd be flabbergasted to see Furple as a 1 seed in the NIT, and UNC-G as a 2. And, I still think we fall to the CIT/CBI/whatever. I think our chances of making the NIT are no more than maybe 20-30%, but that's not zero. If indeed G'boro wins tonight, and thus 2 SoCon teams go dancing, then indeed our chances go up. But that's unlikely. Either way.........just having this conversation is big progress.

Forbes seems to think we don't really have a shot at the NIT, but I keep seeing us predicted in these websites to make it. I just have a hard time believing the NIT is going to take 3 SoCon teams. I think Furman and most likely UNCG gets in, but we will be out.

I have to agree. Had we of pulled of the upset last night, that would have helped. But if that had happened we wouldn't be thinking NIT anyway.

Just saw a portion of the post game interview with Coach Forbes on WJHL (I assume it was that; I didn't get to see as I was limping north from Asheville at the time). He expressed his opinion that the Bucs weren't probably going to get an NIT bid. However, he expressed the opinion that they might get and accept (pending administration approval) another tournament bid. He said that last year with a squad full of seniors it didn't seem reasonable to pay for one or more after season games, with the attendant practice time to play in a tournament other than the NIT, but this year with so many new players it might make more sense. Kenny also said that Good would be shut down (it should probably have happened three weeks ago), which makes one think that ETSU is seriously considering post season play at some level. If so, it doesn't seem too far fetched to project a home game or two. Freedom Hall has two events in March, the 15th and the 26th.

Time to change the thread name from “NCAA” to “NIT”. Probably should been that way the whole time, for modesty’s sake. I really hope ETSU somehow makes the NIT for some real experience. Next year is the year, methinks.

Agree...next year is our year. Meanwhile this year if get in NIT interesting matchup would be vs Georgetown. Think of media and fan frenzy.

The Athletic Dept is certainly expecting us to get a home game for either the NIT or CIT. Just got an email about reserving our season ticket seats for it.

Yes I just got the same email. Sure hope it is the NIT. I cannot remember us ever hosting an NIT game but it would be a great experience.
