I expect it to come down to Stith and Bassey.

RE: Senior Night March 6
The WKU beat writer released his All-CUSA votes:
Bassey, Caver, Stith, Wallace, Jackson were his first team.
Jones was his COY.
Bassey was his Defensive POY.
Bassey was his Freshman of the Year.
Bassey was his POY.
Honestly, I get really frustrated here. This seems to be a bit of a homer vote. Bassey is really, really good. Hands down FOY. But, I don't think he's the best player.
The crazy thing is a Marshall fan asked the beat writer about not having Elmore on his list. The writer responded with KenPom player rankings. Basically, the top 5 in KenPom is exactly who he voted for.
Of course, KenPom ranks them like this:
1. Caver
2. Stith
3. Jackson
4. Bassey
5. Wallace

Pretty annoying that the beat writer is essentially cherry picking his stats. Bassey is #4 on the kenpom list yet gets POY? FOY and DPOY should be enough.

RE: Senior Night March 6
BTW, tonight when Mr Robinson takes center stage consider a couple of things...pre-Feb 8 (N Texas game) he was 14-29 FG (.483) and 3-15 FT (.200). The last seven games he is 8-8 FG and 6-16 FT (.375). His mechanics and footwork were awful to start the year (I guess P-5 coaching isn't always what it's cracked up to be), but he has obviously worked his tail off to improve personally and to contribute in some fashion to our success.
A sincere thank-you isn't expecting too much.

Marshall fans cannot be dumb enough to believe Jon Elmore should sniff the first team, right?

RE: Senior Night March 6
Its tough to take some of these guys serious.
The best defensive player in the conference is Osaghae and it's not even close. The best offensive scorer in this conference is Keaton Wallace and it's not really all that close.
Taking more shots doesn't make you a better player or scorer (Elmore, Jackson, Davis)
Elmore is shooting 39% and has a net defensive rating 5 points higher than his offensive rating. This guy doesn't understand that you have to take number of possessions into consideration...just because Marshall plays like a track team doesn't mean you can add all those things and get the best player. Jackson is a little bit better but still shooting 39% with very little defense.
The 4 players that should be unquestioned first team are Caver, Stith, Bassey, and Wallace. I could see a few guys as the 5th member: Sullivan, Simmons, Jackson, Edwards. I'd prolly lean Simmons, but they will def. put Jackson on.
Why do people believe Bassey is a great defensive player?

Based on the past, it seems they only look at the gaudy stats and not in depth or actual game footage/results. This is what has always hosed ODU in the past based on the limited possessions and low scoring games.
You see how many turnovers Elmore has? geesh

Blocks and rebounds would be my guess. He's second in both.

(I'm sure you are right) And the dude from FIU is significantly better at blocks.

ODU's best defender doesn't fill up the traditional block, steal, rebound stat sheet. He just shuts down the other team's best scorer. Xavier Green has been solid this year

Agreed. But it seems the beat writers in this league have just gone to the stat leaderboard and picked their winners each year.
While we're on the topic, I still can't believe Trey didn't win POY.

Last time we had a conference POY was Alex Loughton. Freeman, Bazemore, Hassell, or Lee never won it. I would be pleasantly surprised if Stith or Caver won it given the others didn't.

Wow, that is a heck of a list of folks our peers at other schools did not think were worthy. And, I hate to say this but I think we got more love from the CAA that we do from the C-USA.

Well back in the CAA days we didn’t **** the bed in big games like we’ve repeatedly done in the CUSA.

Let me say this. **** these Seniors. There was no leadership on the floor what so ever. Caver is effing pathetic and Stitch is crap as well and Carver i don't know why the **** he is still with the team. I had to get it out of the system. What a **** show they put on and just for added measure **** Jeff Jones.
