RE: WKU game
UTSA game is now huge. If we win, we’ll likely secure a first round bye. A loss, and we are probably the 5 seed.

RE: WKU game
Lovan played 24 minutes at Marshall in his first game back from injury, then put in 30 and 33 minutes at WKU and USM respectively.
He's been playing at a really high level, only getting 21 minutes last night is kinda surprising. Not sure what his 2nd half minutes were but he didn't seem to be out there enough.

RE: WKU game
Looking back at the play by play chart when Bryant made a dunk with 3:22 on the clock to
trim the score to 64-65, I interpreted on the radio feed that Bryant may have celebrated a
bit early by overreacting verbally a bit towards an opponent after the dunk and may have
almost obtained a technical foul. Am I fairly accurate on that? Anyway, being the
sophomore that he is, he has to learn not to celebrate at all, especially during the last
four minutes of the game with such a close score. The best time to celebrate is in
the locker room after the game.

Frankly without Bryant we would suck.
Find something positive to talk about every now & then.

RE: WKU game
Yeah not sure why Lovan didn't play more. Only getting 5 from Perry hurts too. Bassey is a load down low that we (nor most teams in CUSA) don't have an answer for.
If we can beat USTA, I think it locks up a first round bye. But looking at USM's schedule, I wouldn't be surprised if they go 0-4 in pod play and finish 5th. They've got @WKU, UTSA, and @ODU left.
Also, when was the last time we lost 4 straight home games?

If I'm thinking of the right series of events, Zack got the dunk and stole the inbounds pass while going out of bounds. The official called him out-of-bounds while Zack said he called TO before he landed OOB. When getting up he placed/left the ball on the floor rather than giving it back to ref. The ref got pissed and followed Zack and gave him a warning. Ehsan then called a TO to calm things down.

RE: WKU game
Basketball substitution sometimes is a flow like thing.
Yes, I'm sure Ehsan wanted Lovan to play 30ish minutes.
We did ok most of the game & led.
The free throw shooting difference (& crappy non touch calls around their basket) ultimately got to us.
Pearson played well with Gueye & Sullivan attempting to stay out of foul trouble.
We did have some bad turnovers, but so did WKU.
Ehsan was probably thinking that since we were leading a lot in the game that he could rest more players.

Bryant stayed on the floor after the ref blew whistle gave it back to WKU. instead of handing the ball back, he just stayed there and told the ref that he was pushed out of bounds and was fouled. when he finally got up, he was mumbling something at the idiot ref and the was threatened by that ref with a T and the team needed to get him under control. Then the TO happened by Ehsan. it was a wise move.
I also saw alot of under the breath cussing back and forth with Perry and Bearden.

The officials were very inconsistent in the calling.
Yes, WKU made more moves towards the basket but not every one of them should have resulted in a foul on us.

Ah! The radio commentators did not understand exactly what
was going on during that play. They kind of gave the impression with
the radio comments that Bryant got a bit too froggy and I interpreted
that as being some kind of celebration after the dunk. And yes, Bryant
is quite the catalyst for the teams over all success in forty minutes of
play. He averages, by far, the most minutes....thirty five minutes per game. He is like the energizer bunny and has a lot of stamina. As
many minutes that he averages per game I am not surprised that he
is on a first name basis with the conference refs by now even as a
sophomore. Not many players have come to UAB and played as many
minutes per game as he does and has as a freshman and a sophomore.

RE: WKU game
Our offensive sets can just look so ugly at times. We really need a "dangerous" and consistent three point threat and i dont know who can replace the offensive production we get from Lew down low after this season.
Also, we are pretty much cheering against UTSA and USM over the next 2-3 games, right?

RE: WKU game
If USM loses out I'm not sure of the tiebreaker between us & them for 4th place but if we don't have it then another victory is needed by us either against ODU or UTSA.

Anyone who has been around basketball more than a week can find several areas where we could have done better.
Ball control, rebounds, etc.

RE: WKU game
Pearson has some explosiveness off the floor. Hands are shaky. Maybe he just needs to calm down. Put him and Jude in football workouts after spring practice is over. Maybe we'll end up with some real muscle inside for a change. Seems like our front-courts have been a mess of bean poles for a while now.
I still see a lot of ??? for us inside next year. Like to add a true post with some weight in the late period.
