I know it's been a difficult decision for Nicky who has been a great coach at Rice for 15 years...
I also know she will be great in the ACC but it's a sad day for Rice.
I didn't realize she had been the HC that long. She is only the second soccer coach (D1) that Rice has had (Chris(?) Houston, being the first one).
Greenspan fired Huston and replaced him with Adams. 2010 I believe.
Literally the ONLY sensible thing he did. Ever.

I just reread all of this and realized that the 15 years must include her time as an assistant. When I read it at first, I interpreted 15 years as HC, though I knew she was probably an assistant when Rice started the program, and that math didn't work out ...

edit: Rice started playing in 2001 and Adams joined the staff in 2003...

I wonder what candidates Rice is looking at? I think an obvious candidate would be the assistant at Stanford, HIDEKI NAKADA.

His background: He was an All-Coast Conference goalkeeper at San Diego Mesa Junior College and competed two years for University of San Francisco (2001-2) before playing professionally for three seasons in Japan's J-League's first and second divisions: two years with Omiya Ardija (2002-04) and one with Kyoto Purple Sanga (2004-05). He graduated from USF in 2005 with a degree in sociology.

He was an assistant coach for the George Washington High School soccer team in San Francisco, then a college women's soccer coach at Idaho State, Marquette and Oregon before moving to Stanford in 2013. He was named the Cardinal women's soccer associate head coach last year.
