With the new coaching staff and scheme we could have some issues, but ISU has no clue what to expect! If they look at film from the last couple of years that will be of little or no help, especially if Bowers is the starter! We should have had enough time to implement and for the players to be adjusted to the new scheme, so I give the edge to this being a positive for us and a negative for ISU.

Got my airline tickets today. Bringing 6 .. I still haven't recovered from last years Utah loss, or the BC loss before that, but I will again make an NIU home opener. Pleasepleaseplease don't lose to a FCS ISU team.

My favorite part is the Ill St troll getting called out by his own fanbase for being obsessed. Whatever, banning him and his MANY aliases (of which we did IP traces to ensure they were all the same) felt good each and every time.

That being said, Ill St (ISU is in Iowa, folks) is not going to be the pushover many here are claiming. I expect a hard fought battle with our beloved Huskies pulling out a win. And then Jons99 makes a new account to make up some more garbage about a fake child coming to NIU and then asking to transfer to ISU. Rinse and repeat.

I think everyone knows this is going to be a 4 quarter game.

I think everyone knows this is going to be a 4 quarter game.

First games are so unpredictable. In all likelihood it will be close unless Bowers hits the ground running. The NIU defense has enough experience to play a really good game so I expect it’s gonna be something like 24-17.

The great thing about an ignorant poster like the ISU kid is that now there is reason to trash talk. There’s nothing really bad to say about ISU. Good school. Good sports. But because they’re FCS they will always be behind on the football field.

Visited their board, and a long-time Redbird poster called him out for trolling here and there. He didn't answer (yet).

I actually really like Ill St and always had a blast when visiting. It's a shame one bad apple spoils the bunch, because he is a horrid representation of most of the Ill St alumni I've met. I'd even be thrilled if they joined the conference, we need a good rival

I think 24-17 is the exact score predicted by Massey. You missed your calling!

A little off topic but curious does anyone think NIU has any shot to sell out Homecoming? I would normally say no, but it is the last game many can attend for the year, and there is a Victor E Bobblehead promotion. I suppose the Cubs playoff state will have something to say about it.

MD—that’s October 26th—-IF the Cubs are still playing that’s game four of the World Series and will be played at night. Other than a select few that may have tickets, the impact on an afternoon game at Huskie Stadium will be very minimal. I think NIU would have to sweep Utah, Nebraska and Vanderbilt to have hopes of filling the stadium, Cubs or no Cubs.

NIU would have to overhaul Huskie Stadium completely if it swept Utah, Nebraska and Vanderbilt, or at least put up some south end zone bleachers (haha). But, seriously, last home sellouts (2) were in 2013.

IMO, 15,000-18,000 is possible for Illinois State (THammock replica jersey giveaway) and maybe Homecoming, depending on those three P5s + Pres. Lisa Freeman's push for better Homecoming (bobblehead giveaway so far) activities.

Since home fans won't see the team at home again until Oct. 5/Ball State (Band Day/visor cap giveaway), Illinois State game could be a critical indicator of how the overall community responds to the changes ... make that change in atittude.

That game will "tell" a lot about if and how much fans will respond to the kickoff (pun not intended) of the THammock Era and the impacts of all the expanded social media, constant official website updates, publicity, giveaways and promotions, etc. All that, in turn, will begin to tell something about the intrinsic value of any investment in improving Huskie Stadium.

The dawn of a new era (waxing poetic here) is a rare opportunity to "wave the flag."

Go Huskies!

I'm expecting a big crowd! I will be there with a handful of other Huskie fans - CAN'T WAIT! Coach Hammock and the entire staff have done a wonderful job on social media and I expect there to be a new vibe around the team/stadium come 8/31.

Get out there and support the program!

Beat Illinois State.

I would hope 18k+ for the ISU game.

I'll be optimistic and guess 20, 085.

Been to several games recently where I would have made an honest eyeball guess of 18k only to have NIU report 15500 in the stadium. Watching an empty EIU on TV later that night reported at 16k drive me to drink.

5 Dimes has spreads on the FBS vs FCS games.... we are at -5.5.

At first it seemed low but it makes sense. They are are a solid program with a veteran coach. We have a new coach. Plus we very average last year. Great defense averaged down by an anemic offense.

This will be an interesting game for us Huskies. Maybe we can snatch their playbook again and win 52-0. 04-cheers03-drunk02-13-banana01-ncaabbs01-wingedeagle01-wingedeagle
