I think anyone in Vegas who bet on EMU is very, very upset...

Credit where its due though: great final minute and OT from Jackson. Went and got points when no one else was.

Not pleasant to watch, but at least we got a W out of that viewer-torture.

RE: Game Day: WMU
I think there were 3 story lines from today's game:

1). As Frank posted, Jackson willed the victory.

2). FT shooting. The percentage was less than our FG shooting.

3). And no one has mentioned it, but Thompson and Toure were a combined 12 for 17 from the field.

We outplayed WMU but easily left 10 or 15 points on the floor with missed FTs. 26 / 38 (68%) would have given us 10 more points.

Dear Friends,
Being at the game I would agree with everything said, except that we were out coached. Where I was sitting behind the Eastern bench, Murphy was drawing up plays, and Eastern made some nice plays after the time outs.

Our first regular season sweep of WMU since Murphy’s first season back in 2011/12. Obviously, they are down this year, but it’s always good to beat your in-state rivals as often as you can.

Was at game as well. First half Western made 6 of 12 3s we made only 3 of 12. We did a good job of attacking the lane the second half with Jackson and Macdoo. Got off to a great start in overtime but almost blew it with siily mistakes and inability to cash in at the line JT4 mostly silent second half Minnie off game Groce not scoring but in for defense Silver is really contributing

Yes Jackson in the last minutes of regulation and in overtime carried this team

We shot horrible from beyond the arc. Our free throw shooting would have been a disappointment at the Junior High School level. Minnie had one of the worst games of the season. You can't expect to win games playing like that but we did. A win is a win no matter how ugly.

Agree. Surprisingly Murphy wasn't in Minnie's face about his play. I don't recall hearing him throw Minnie under the bus in his after game interview. His head wasn't in the game today, so I can only speculate maybe there is an off the court reason. I expect he will bounce back on Tuesday, he always does!

Jeff, Minnie got an award prior to the game for points scored throughout his NCAA career. He then went back to the court and the guys all surrounded him in a celebratory way. Then he missed the dunk that was intended to cap the celebration. That was the sign of things to come for sure.

Okay, but remember for every player who had a bad game we had another who had a very good game.

As I mentioned in another post, JT4 and Toure' were a combined 12 for 17 FGs. Lot of great paint play.

Minnie this year has averaged 14 points per game and 5 rebounds. Last year he averaged 16 points a game and 6 rebounds. I will say this season's averages are misleading because Minnie has a few great games and some like yesterday. I think his performance last year was more consistent game to game.

Yes, erratic. Definitely.

WMU features some fmr. MI h.s. players like guard Michael Flowers and center Seth Dugan. Also guard/forward Josh Davis who I believe has been an enigma during his career and not having the career most expected (I thought he had all-MAC potential coming out of h.s. highly regarded).

EMU had better come out focused and ready to play. They cannot assume another big win. We've seen Murphy lose these types of games before. That can't happen today

I would assume the high energy 2nd half we saw Tuesday suggests the team has re-focused and JT4 came ready to play 100% then and will today.
Care to comment on this, sir?
