Come hell, high water, or Trump, Justin Amash sticks to the Constitution

Quote:The Democrats are offering a bill to block Trump from assuming legislative powers regarding the border and Amash is on board. He’s following through on his promise from when the president first said he would declare a national emergency.

Of course this means many Republicans aren’t very happy with Amash at the moment, not only for opposing Trump but for undermining what they believe is a genuine national emergency: America’s broken borders.

But this only further speaks to Amash’s point. There will always be a long list of concerns that any president could deem a national emergency. Protecting so-called "Dreamers" was Obama’s justification for his executive order in 2014.

For the record, I too, think America’s borders need strengthening. I also believe Dreamers, innocent parties who illegally entered the U.S. as children, need protection.

This doesn’t mean an executive order is the way to do it.

Trump certainly was against Obama’s executive orders in 2014. Trump said on Fox at the time that since Obama couldn’t make an immigration deal with Congress, “now he has to use executive action, and this is a very, very dangerous thing that should be overridden easily by the Supreme Court.”

I guess we can tell where the libertarians are

It is a cultural war for the future of this nation. There are only those for law and order and those who will use every twist of logic and word to accomplish its destruction. Anyone who stands in the way of defending our way of life, no matter their reasoning, doesn't understand that it is a war. We don't have the luxury of business as usual. It's time to be counted, and if you can't decide, or you wish to quibble, you might as well be with the left. Right now we don't need obstacles. The situation will only get more desperate. And the ultimate victims are our children.

it's "quibble cribbage"

that is the battle.....sink or swim relative to incentive and sweat equity...

if one enjoys the USD, it's pretty dadgum simple....

#getyo'arsetowork while the 'means' are available to continually develop future endeavours.......

it's line 1b) vs. line 1c) all day and the eighth one....

They're almost worse than democrats, almost. They share the same sense of smug superiority and never let you forget that - at least in their own minds - their's is the superior intellect.

It's time for the sides to present something that offers more than just the same ol "Let's make it look like we hate each other for the cameras and then let's go get a beer later" Jerry Lawler/Bill Dundee trope.

Meanwhile, that infrastructure he assured us was crumbling and needed fixing is still in a state of disrepair and all that he can think of is building a wall. A wall that wont do a damn thing to stop the flow of illegal drugs into our ports of entry OR to stop people from tunneling under it or using other means.

It's almost as if a giant section of the population believes that once that wall is in place we can finally breathe easy about our borders now that we can finally live safely from the fear of all of those bloodthirsty brown people looking to rape our women and take our high demand serving, construction, and landscaping jobs.

Nobody, including the current POTUS has suggested such a thing.

The physical barrier is simply the first step to deterrent, folks won’t just walk on in and disappear like they do now. Add the cameras, surveillance, patrols etc and we can perhaps stem the madness.

You’re another propagandist.

Sad.

that's bs...you're listening to stupid people...

tell your congressmen to ante up fed funds for hub centers/rural states or stfu....b/c it's that crew that designates how funds are allocated

it's your choice as a voter to drive the necessary narrative or remain silent....

the dippos don't care, nor have a clue...
