If we had to pick a program that we wanted to look like who would it be? Think about it. You can say something negative about all school's success.

If we said:

Kentucky, they have a national championship, four Final Four appearances and a 35 NBA draft picks since 2010. But they only have one championship to show for it.

Kansas, they win the Big 12 every year but only 2 final 4 trips. And no chips

Gonzaga has won more games than anyone since 2010 but they only have one Final 4 appearance.

Villanova has two chips but used to get bounced from the tournament early every year. If Temple doesn't mess up with a coaching hire they have Jaylen Bruson instead of Villanova who wouldn't have two championships.

Syracuse - Two final 4 appearances since 2010 but went two years without making the tournament at all.

Cincy - competes with the top 25 every year but hasn't made a final 4.

To quote a former coach, winning is hard... lol. OK that was a joke.

But seriously what should success for the Tigers look like?

At this point, a Sweet 16 would qualify for me. (to start with :))

I would kill for the success that Kentucky has had over the last 10 years... Their fans have been so spoiled with great talent and winning, to the point that they are bitching and complaining about not getting the best 5 stars (top 5 ranked guys).

Honestly as long as we are making runs in the tournament consistiently and are consistiently in the top 25, i will be elated. Not everyone wins a National Championship.

I want to look like Memphis! Memphis pre pastner. We don't have to say we want to be like program x, WE ARE MEMPHIS!

You are right...I don't want to be Gonzaga. I was speaking in terms of team success. If our team was in the top 25 every year but only 1 FF in the past 10....would Penny still have his job like Mark Few? Or would we be calling for his job after 35 pros 4 FF but only 1 championship?

I'd be happy if he stays for 20+ years. Throw some deep runs in there. Few FFs. Couple early bounces. First title. Brings people back downtown. He's got all the potential in the world. Then he runs for mayor and that's the end of it.

Honestly all I can really ask and expect from Penny is to make our program relevant again.

My expectations remain the same. Sweet 16s. I feel like we are a Sweet 16 program and we should hit the Sweet 16 every few years. I would like to see some deeper runs from time to time, but that is icing on the cake.

I'd be more than happy with the Kansas model. Win the conference yearly, then go to a FF every 4 years? Sign me up. You go to a FF every 4-6 years and you are going to eventually win a NC. No program is "clean", but Kansas doesn't feel like it has the sleaze attached to it that Kentucky has historically dating all the way back to Rupp.
