RE: Tonight's matchup: UC v. UCF
I'm not sure there is tougher team to score against when the big fellow is on the court. I've seen him now several years up close, and his reach is in person almost cartoon like. Plain and simple he covers so much territory reach wise in the lane they can turn their guards lose on the perimeter like fleas. That said, he's still a liability offensively unless you flat out do not guard him. Bad hands and a ft that looks like a broken catapult. We won that game at the ft line, and Brooks defense was outstanding. Can't leave out the offensive scapegoat Scott. He hit several huge shots including the one before half which he also got slugged on. Nice win.

I will second this. He dove on the floor several times, had a bunch of defelections and at least one steal. You could tell he really wanted to win the game. Instead of hanging his head and sulking because the other team was throwing everything at him to shut him down, he bowed his neck and found a way to help the team win. Not just a savvy offensive player, but a real warrior out there last night.

Pure and simple JC is a winner. Does whatever he can to help the team.
Sometimes it's scoring sometimes it's the other things. Just wants to win.

Second that on Brooks effort all night. He worked harder than I have ever seen him play.
I went to the UCF game in Florida two years ago when we lost and the Cats got dunked on throughout the game. Gary, Kyle, and a young Brooks could not stop Tacko from getting close to the offensive rim. Two nights ago, Nysier just beat Tacko to the spot with his speed and used his legs to gain leverage. Brooks may still be getting treatment on his bruises.
He may not finish around the rim as much as we would like, but he definitely found another gear to playing hard. Hope to see more of that this season.

You mean more of Brooks right? I agree! I like Brooks' defensive play. I hope he works on his offensive skills so he can finish around the basket. I'm already anticipating that Cumberland will return and we will have a strong offensive presence under the rim, with Brooks, next year.
I can dream can't I?

Don't know what Hardnett and Gillam Toyambi will bring next year but we will really be deep on front court players.
