That means the other 6 are naked. Think I'll start going to some games.

From a pure MARKETING standpoint...I really think that is the answer to filling up the Field House for every home game and probably, the away games as well.

They could play 'Shirts' and 'Skins' like we used to do in gym class.

Have you seen our team? Not sure it would help to sell tickets.

I would say McFerrin has gots to go but she has a lot of incoming talent.

AAC is not a one-bid league. We can do better.

It's a post about women's basketball........what's the alternative? Discuss a bad women's basketball team. How many people here go to their games? Who cares?

Couldn't take the joking? Hate it for ya.

Hey guys. Thanks for ruining what I had hoped would be a good conversation about one of our programs.

What does it say when the women have more road wins than the men? There are more members on the coaching staff than players on the roster. Only 6 players returning next year so even with the 5 recruits so far there is still room to add more.

I guess that's a matter of opinion. I didn't think it was ruined. I enjoy conversations about naked women. I actually enjoy naked women more than having conversations about them. But hey, that's just me.

RE: Memphis Lady Tiger Basketball. Why can’t it be great?
I am a long time Tiger Women's Basketball season ticket holder since the Joye Lee days. I don't understand why we lose one of our top players every year. This year our best junior player, Taylor Barnes, is MIA from the bench and roster as of the last 2 games. We need to invest a little money in this program if we are to be successful in the conference. I think we can compete in this conference (disregarding UCONN) if we have the drive to do so within the program. It seems the girls aren't motivated by this coaching staff. I will continue to support them, along with football and men's basketball, but it does get harder every dang year!

GO TIGERS!

Thanks for your support. Always good to hear from a true fan. But I don't think putting money into women's basketball will ever come back. Pumping money into football and basketball creates a revenue flow that makes it all worthwhile. I doubt we have the support regardless of the women's basketball team's success. Throwing money at women's basketball is a waste of resources. I only say that because as a non-P5 school, we are already fighting an uphill battle.

I know my opinion is different than yours. Don't want to argue only kindly discuss. 04-cheers to you fellow Tiger fan!

We have the top class in the AAC after the early signing period. Of course, UConn only signed 1 ion early period and will surp[ass us when the top players sign in the second period. But we are in a position to move up in the standings next season.

Our main concern is we have allowed UCF to become the bell cow of the conference. Top football school, top 4 in MBB and second in WBB.

We are just in a bad location. We lose the top local talent to SEC schools in most sports. Do not think anyone could win today in the non-revenue sports. So coaching change just for the sake of change is not going to do much good. As we saw in softball a while back if we do somehow get someone who is able to win they get hired away.

Probably why Melissa is still here. Decent, nothing overwhelming, clean program, not much upside to hiring somebody new.

Now, I know a 'clean' program is almost a given in women's BB, but there hasn't been too much drama, suspensions, etc..

What if we hired someone really good? Attendance might go up by....400 people per game (if that) and the coach would be hired away very quickly.

What if we hired someone really bad? Blair Savage-Lansden train wreck (complete with player defections, etc.).

I will say 4 losing seasons out of the last 5 MIGHT be enough to pull the plug on Melissa.

But people have to care enough to pull the plug...which I am not sure there is enough of.

RE: Memphis Lady Tiger Basketball. Why can’t it be great?
Things are actually looking up for the future of Women's Basketball. We have a freshman who is really doing great.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Memphis freshman guard Jamirah Shutes has been named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week for her performances this past week against UConn and Houston. This is the second Freshman of the Week honor for Shutes this season.

Shutes led Memphis offensively this week, averaging 15.5 points while pulling down 6.0 rebounds per game. Against Houston on Sunday, Shutes scored a team-high 20 points, marking the fifth time this season she has scored at least 20 points in a game. No other freshman in the league has achieved that feat. Her 20-point performance against Houston marked the 13th time this season she has led the Tigers in scoring.

Also against Houston, Shutes pulled down a career-high eight rebounds. She also finished with four steals, which matches her career-high set twice against Wichita State and Tulane.

Shutes continues to lead all freshmen in scoring with 14.0 points per game. That total ranks her seventh in the league. She continues to climb the all-time Memphis freshman single-season scoring list, moving into seventh place with 351 points scored this year. She also owns the conference's current active free throw streak, having connected on her past 37 attempts dating back to Jan. 30.

Memphis returns to action next Saturday with a road trip at SMU. Tip off against the Mustangs in the only regular season matchup this year is slated for 2 p.m. in Dallas, Texas.
