RE: Final CAA Power Rankings (before CAA Tournament)
Thanks, great article! I hope you don't mind for this copy & past but this is "WOW I didn't realize" worthy:
"It’s certainly been a wild year so far. Outside of the top three teams, there’s only a two-game (or less) difference between the #4 team and #8 team in league standings. EVERY game from here on out is astronomically important, and especially for your William & Mary Tribe."

It won't surprise me if W&M, JMU, and Drexel end in a 3-way tie at 7-11 for the 6th spot in the CAAT (read: staying out of the Keener Invitational). I believe the tie-breaker would favor W&M in that scenario if it happens considering W&M swept Drexel this season.

The only way that can be a tie for 6th is if Towson wins at least 2 of 3 to get to 8-10. Towson goes to Northeastern and hosts W&M and Elon. You could have something like a four-way tie for 5th.

Yep. Note, I posted that before the games Thursday night. More specifically, before W&M pulled a minor surprise with a W over Charleston. I think W&M finishes 8-10 now.
Now, I think UD, Towson and W&M finish in a 3-way tie at 8-10 for the 4th-5th-6th spots. I think there is no way in hay-yell that JMU defeats Hofstra tomorrow and best we finish is 7-11. We will be in the Keener Invitational barring Hofstra plays so poorly and we play so far over our heads that our noses bleed all the way back from Long Island.
The CAA boils down to this for me...
Legit top 3: Hofstra, NU, CoC (though CoC has disappointed IMO)
Next 3: UD, Towson, W&M
Keener, Party of 4: Drexel, JMU, Elon, UNCW

I am slightly different in my opinion on how teams should be ranked. I see it as Hofstra and NU being the best then Charleston very close behind. The remaining seven teams you can group together as anyone of them can beat the other on a given day.

There’s a world of difference between “can” beat and “does” beat. We’ve been a team with lots of “can” but little “do”.

We've won 1 CAAT game (a Keener) since ODU, Mason and Ga St left the CAA-CAA.

We have split with everyone we have played thus far except NU. So I would think that falls under the “does” beat category.

We're 6-10 and 0-1 against our last two opponents. If we win those I'd say that is a definite improvement and lumps us in with the middle of the pack.
Don't know what's happened over the last few weeks but if it's due to Coach Rowe's efforts then perhaps this is more than an anomaly and a sign of good things to come. It would certainly indicate better coaching than I thought he was capable of and the type of signs most of us have been hoping (and waiting) for.

RE: Final CAA Power Rankings (before CAA Tournament)
Charleston is up at Elon by 12 with just over a minute to play. Let's assume the Cougs go on and win.
Here's the CAA standings with next Thursday-Saturday left in the regular season schedule...(note, pay very close attention to what each team has left in parenthesis)
1. Hofstra 13-3 (at Drexel, at Delaware)
2. Northeastern 12-4 (at Delaware, at Drexel)
3. Charleston 11-6 (no game Thursday, home vs UNCW)
T4. Delaware 8-8 (Northeastern, Hofstra)
T4. W&M 8-8 (at Towson, at JMU)
6. Drexel 7-9 (Hofstra, Northeastern)
T7. JMU 6-10 (Elon, W&M)
T7. Towson 6-10 (W&M, Elon)
9. Elon 5-11 (at JMU, at Towson)
10. UNCW 5-12 (no game Thursday, at Charleston)
Decent chance there will be a 4-way tie for 4th at 8-10. If JMU is in that group, the win today could be a deciding tie-breaker. We'll see. Just take care of business at home, Dukes, and I think at minimum we avoid the Keener Invitational.
