RE: Full schedule Release
I could not hate the late home opener anymore than I already do. A slow start be power fives and the home attendance will be dreadful plus we lose some of the early excitement of home games.

Agree. When the OOC schedule was worked out we had an early Sept. game vs. San Diego State. With that game gone, we are hurting playing first three on the road.
I assume EMU was willing to play the first game on the ROAD because we had SDSU behind it at home...
As was indicated by another poster, losing that home game completely screwed up the home schedule...

RE: Full schedule Release
However, we're MUCH more likely to have a good weather Homecoming this year, which is of course our most important home game.

Start the season with three road games.
12 games, but only five at home.
Two of the five home games are in November.
Zero home games in September.
One in September. Wish it were two.
im happy our maction is away instead of home
Dan once again you speak the absolute truth! MACTION games, due to their late fall time evening time frame are scheduled and played for one reason only, Television revenue. I will enjoy watching the Akron and NIU games at 72 degree temps on my couch instead of freezing at Rynearson and driving home afterwards on a weeknight.

????
Akron and NIU are both away games. We do not have any mid-week night games.

That's the point I was trying to convey. With only 5 home games it would have been a real kick in the ass to have one of them on a frigid November week night. Looking for the positives here.

I had heard that Wetherbee was against the MACtion games at home and opted against them. We saw some other MAC schools do this last year. I have no idea if this is true or affects our television revenues but I like it.

Players and coaches love those mid-week, away MACtion games..............NOT!
The idiots running the MAC that got suckered into this low ball deal by ESPN should all be fired.

Are you sure coaches do not like it for national visibility? Million Tvs > 15,000 people in stands.
With Emus demphasis on recruiting locally I would think mid-week MACtion, the gray field, the wall, the sledge hammer, the pipe wrench are all for marketing the program to the country.

I think the question is two fold:
1). Home games where attendance suffers, sometimes greatly,
2). Away games which are hard on the AWAY team,
I would think that unless the team really is afraid of losing too much home game revenue, playing at home mid-week is a competitive advantage.

I hear you and many others from across the MAC who don't like midweek games in November.
As far as ESPN is concerned, it is an 'all sports' deal. We get many games on ESPN+ and ESPN3 and also games 'farmed out' to CBSSN (Friday night men's basketball is a big hit among MAC fans).
The thing was to give ESPN more LIVE content and in return the MAC gets a lot of games done live across a number of sports and across a number of platforms (ESPN2, ESPNU, CBSSN, ESPN3, ESPN+, etc.).
When I see an EMU player on Sports Center I remember that ESPN has the content and chose to give us some nice exposure.

Buffalo lost another player. Starting TE Tyler Mabry (an Ypsi native) has grad transferred to Maryland.

Wow. The cupboard will be VERY bare next season in Buffalo.
