RE: What is the Announcement at 10 AM?
ISU fans thinking they’e on NIUs football level is typical behavior of teams trying to get respect. That “we are as good as you” attitude. But it’s always one sided. MVC fans will say they’re equal to the MAC. MAC fans don’t really have a thought about the MVC. Just like the B1G will cry they’re as good as the SEC. SEC fans don’t even deal with B1G delusions. ISU fans knocking NIU football is just little sibling syndrome. ISU is a good FCS football school. But bring that 18-16 FCS record over the last 3 years to the FBS. Then what? ISU recruit rankings are typically 50+ spots lower than NIUs.

LOL this guy literally just said the MAC is on par with the MVC.

The MAC has even surpassed the MVC in basketball now that the good teams have bolted from there.

LMAO! I just read that thread on the ISU board and nobody in the comments even agrees with this guy. What does this guy have against NIU to continually make usernames to troll? So sad...

You’re clearly this jon99 guy on the ISU board (and formerly on here) because your posts in the conference realignment thread and his on RBF are very similar. (Most ISU fans wouldn’t take your NIU derangement bait BTW to their credit.) If GTS wants to keep you around that’s his prerogative but you’re clearly lying.

https://csnbbs.com/thread-870382.html
“And since this is a sports board, the biggest fatality of this could be NIU football, with their enrollment down 40%, has to be killing their athletic budget, basketball is drawing about 900. not good“

“I would also dump money into Illinois St and create that second flagship school, would benefit the entire state.”

https://redbirdfan.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1308
“They are a directional school with 13K undergrad and weak academics, whose athletic budgets are about equal and is currently drawing 840 per basketball game.”

“The state of Illinois needs to start pumping more money into ISU, even if that means allowing schools like EIU, WIU and NIU to be shut down, it is crazy that a state our size doesnt have two big time public universities. Which other big states don't? Any?”

He didn't even change the 99 in his username. That's like the bank robber who waited in line wearing a ski mask.

Loyola in the Final Four says otherwise?

Bradley and ISU averages over 5000 fans a game, NIU averages 900 a game.

Anyone that thinks ISU is the little sibling hasn't been paying attention

ISU- 18330 average ACT 24.2
NIU- 12479 average ACT 22.4

But I am not going to get into this debate, everyone here knows all of this and the direction the two schools and heading.

OK, we were talking about football and you bring up ACT’s. Stay on topic. Deflecting is a sure sign of defeat.

1 team doesn't make an entire conference. They are a 1 year wonder. Also, attendance? Really? I didn't know that attendance matters in the RPI when the MAC is clearly ahead of the MVC.

They are both one bid leagues. MVC is down right now, but they will rebound like they have in the past when programs left. And attendance certainly matters when building programs and conferences, in both dollars and recruiting. Whats more impressive for a high school kid when being recruited, playing in front of 5000 fans or 800 ??

Perhaps thats the problem at NIU currently, too much emphasis on getting blown out in the Boca Raton Bowl, not enough emphasis on academics and building enrollment?

Football is the only area that most feel that NIU has the upperhand on ISU. But before the chest thumping gets too bad, last year Sagarin had NIU at #84 and ISU at #95

Did you just come into a football forum and suggest its members put too much emphasis on football? The upper hand in question was all I was referring to. That was the OP’s topic. There’s levels to this. ISU isn’t on NIUs level. Just like NIU isn’t on NUs level. Even if we beat them. Exposure, notoriety, recruiting...all these things define your program. Go outside Illinois and ask someone how ISU football is doing. They’ll say the Cyclones are doing pretty well.

As for the universities in general, I agree. ISU is in a much better position currently than NIU. But that’s not this forum.

What I was suggesting is that perhaps the university is putting too much money into their football program and their limited resources would be better served in academic areas. Not to mention, the emphasis on football has pretty much killed basketball and baseball too.

And I think you are hugely mistaken if you don't believe overall strength of the university belongs in this forum.

Maybe it does, but its better off discussed with people who don't continually make usernames to troll on an NIU board. How insignificant is that?

In the right thread. But We are talking about next years schedule. There’s nothing your school or mine can do to change what next year looks like. If the thread is “where will ————-‘s football program be in ten years?” then it’s super relevant. But for the second time - stay on topic. You obviously understand ISU football is lower than NIUs. That’s all this is about here. Go start a thread on overall university quality if you want, but quit changing the subject about next years match up or teams.

But how big is the difference between the two programs? Attendance about the same with ISU slightly higher and last year Sagarin rankings were close (NIU #84, ISU #95) .
